  • Psalm 40:6-10 Ps 6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. 9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. 10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

  • BreisheetJohn 1:1-3 (KJV) Jn 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

  • BreisheetThe ancients taught that the Lord created all things through an agent. In some places the agent is called Wisdom In some places the agent is called Torah In some places the agent is called the Word.

  • By Wisdom1 Corinthians 2:7 (KJV) 1Co 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:Proverbs 3:19 (KJV) 19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

  • By WisdomProverbs 8:22-31 (KJV) Pr 22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: 26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: 29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: 30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; 31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

  • By Wisdom(Sirach 24:3-9) I came out of the mouth of the most High and covered the earth as a cloud. I dwelt in high places and my throne is in a cloudy pillar. I alone compassed the circuit of heaven, and walked in the bottom of the deep He created me from the beginning before the world and I shall never fail.

  • By TorahSirach 24: the book of the covenant of the most high God even the Torah which Moses commanded for a heritage unto the congregations of Jacob:The apocryphal book of Sireach provides a sooth transition from Wisdom to Torah.Gods Torah and His Wisdom are one and the same thing.

  • By TorahPsalm 119:17-24 (KJV) Ps 17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word. 18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. 19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me. 20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. 21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments. 22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies. 23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. 24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellors.

  • By WordAccording to mystical interpretations of the first chapter of Genesis God created the universe through Wisdom and Torah. He also created it through His Word in the mystical sense, Word is used to mean an expression of Gods person.Psalm 33:3-6 (KJV) Ps 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. 4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

  • The Light in The DarknessJohn 1:4-9 (KJV) Jn 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

  • The Light of the WorldMatthew 5:14-16 (KJV) Mt 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  • The Word Became FleshJohn 1:14 (KJV) Jn 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

  • The Word Became FleshPhilippians 2:7-11 (KJV) Php 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  • John 1:1-9John 1:1-9 (KJV) Jn 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

  • John 1:10-14John 1:10-14 (KJV) Jn 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

  • John 1:15-18John 1:15-18 (KJV) Jn 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

  • A Study of BreisheetBreisheet

******Study the life of Rabbi Yeshua through Jewish eyes, stripping away centuries of theological dressings and cultural misinterpretations. Volume Four is like reading the Gospels for the very first time giving the historical and cultural context. The way John begins his Gospel you can see that John wants us to read his prelude to the gospel in concert with its parallel narrative in the Toirah, Genesis 1.*The book of Genesis begins by telling us about the beginning of the heavens and the earth, when they were created. The chronicles of the Messiah begin at the same beginning. The opening of the Gospel of John declares that the mysterious Word which takes on human flesh and blood in the person of Yeshua of Nazareth existed with god and as God in the beginning.**The first word of John alludes directly to the beginning of the Torah and the beginning of creation. John starts his epistle with the equivalent of the Hebrew word bereshit. John wants us to read his prelude to the gospel in concert with its parallel narative in the Torah Gen 1.*The Gospel of John introduces the Lord Jesus Christ with three tremendous statements:"In the beginning was the Word,""And the Word was with God,""And the Word was God.Word Is God -- Word Became Flesh -- Word Revealed God (1:1-12)

**This is wisdom speaking here, first person singular. *In a similar passage from the apocryphal book of Sirach, Wisdom speaks in the first-person voice.*The mystical interpretations of the first chapter of Genesis also teach that God created the universe through the agency of His torah.***John continues to allude to the torahs creation narrative. In His first act of creation, god said, Let there be light and three was light Genesis 1:3*Darkness symbolizes Israels state of exile and the spiritual state of the sinner. Fallen man is separated from God, blind to spiritual revelation, lost in a world of materialism. Light symbolizes revelation, spiritual awakening, and the knowledge and glory of God.*John evokes Gods Wisdom, Gods Torah and Gods Word when he speaks of the Logos. Johns explains that the Logos became flesh.**The apostle Paul wrote of Him, He "...thought it not robbery to be equal with God" (Phil. 2:6). That is, He did not go to school to become God; it was not something He worked overtime to attain. It was not a degree that He earned. He did not try to be God; He was God. It was a tragedy -- the world was in darkness, spiritual darkness, and did not know Him. Even today we are seeing the rise of atheism and unbelief, and we will see it more and more in the days that lie ahead. A great many people do not seem to recognize that unbelief and atheism go naturally with the natural man.John used the past tense in the previous sentence, saying that Jesus was the light of all people by virtue of being their Creator; but John shifted to the present tense: the light shines through the darkness. The timeless light has invaded our time, and we can see it in our darkness.Life Application New Testament Commentary.

*John notes one of the greatest tragedies: the worldhumankinddidnt recognize its own Creator. They were blinded and could not see his light. Although Christ created the world, the people he created didnt recognize him. He was denied the general acknowledgment that should have been his as Creator. Though the rejection of Christ was universal, individuals did respond personallysome believed him and accepted him as the Son of God, the Savior. To them he gave the right to become children of God. In Greek right means authority or permission. In this context, it speaks of God granting the right or giving the privilege for the new birth. No one can attain this new birth by his or her own power, merit, or ability. Only God can grant it. One is not in Gods family because he or she is a Jew by physical birth (or even born into a Christian family). The new birth cannot be attained by an act of human passion, and it has absolutely nothing to do with any human plan. It is a gift of God.Many believed superficially in Jesus when they saw his miracles, but they did not believe in Jesus as the Son of God. They believed in him while he fulfilled their expectations of what the Messiah should be, but they left him when he defied their preconceived notions. We must believe in Jesus as Jesus, the Son of God; we must wholeheartedly believe in Jesus, not limiting him to our ideas and misconceptions; we must regard Jesus as the Bible truly presents him.

*This statement, no one has ever seen God, seems to contradict passages like Exodus 24:9-11, which says that the elders of Israel saw God. What then does John mean? Very likely, he is affirming the fact that no human being has seen the essential being of God. Some men experienced theophanies (special appearances of God in various forms), but no one saw the essential being of God. Only the Son, who is himself God, can communicate his glory to us. *
