You're not alone!Here, dear Members , we should be able to tell every woman who day after day, hour after hour, in every part of the world suffers violence. There are many associations, movements, structures which tend a hand to women victims of violence, in terms of material aid, hospitality, legal and psychological assistance.

But it isn’t enough: this despicable phenomenon continues to grow until reaching devastating levels, and more in Italy than in many other countries. It' s just in these days the call of the UN to the Italian government: "Violence against women remains a serious problem, to solve it is an international obligation."

The Italian Parliament has enacted some laws, such as stalking which also has increased the punishments of those crimes ; a National Action Plan against violence was also adopted , but these tools certainly did not lead to a decrease in crimes nor they were able to improve the condition of women's lives

The numbers are now known dramatically: according to a data spread by the "Telefono Rosa" Association , are 120 the women killed in Italy in 2012, almost one every two days, in an escalation without end, and what is most dismaying is that , in most cases, it is family violence, as practiced by husbands, boyfriends and ex partners.

What can our Association against this terrible phenomenon? We must do a movement of public opinion once again, with firmness and determination! We fought for gender equality and we are reaping the first fruits at the legislative level ; well now is the time to demand from our rulers of urgent action to develop a proper policy of contrast.

We know that there is the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. It is a tool that has three essential conditions: the prevention of violence, through education and awareness in schools on gender equality, protection of victims and prosecution of perpetrators .
