BOSTON BRUINS RECALL LARMAN, LEHTONEN, SABOURIN, AND SAUVE FROM PROVIDENCE

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled forward Drew Larman, forward Mikko Lehtonen, goaltender Dany Sabourin and forward Maxime Sauve from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League). Larman, Lehtonen, Sabourin and Sauve will join forward Zach Hamill and train in Providence as the Bruins open the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. All five players will be available to participate in Bruins practices during the playoffs and be available for the Bruins playoff roster. There may be additional players recalled subject to players’ availability.

Hamill made his NHL debut on April 11 and picked up his first career NHL point with an assist in the Bruins 4-3 shootout win over Washington in their season finale. The 21-year-old Hamill was selected by the Bruins in the first round (eighth overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to joining the Providence Bruins in 2008, the 5’11 180-pound Port Coquitlam, British Columbia native spent the previous five seasons playing junior hockey as a member of the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League in Canada. Hamill is Everett’s all-time leader in assists and points with 175 and 262, respectively, to go along with 87 career goals. During the 2008-09 season with the P-Bruins, Hamill posted 13-13=26 totals and 40 penalty minutes while being limited to 65 games due to a thumb injury. He posted 14-30=44 totals and 24 penalty minutes in 75 games with Providence this season. The 24-year-old Larman made his Bruins debut on November 18, 2009 against the Senators after being recalled earlier that day. The 6’3” 195-pound forward appeared in four NHL games with the Bruins from January 18 to January 24 logging 32:30 of ice time. Larman skated in 55 games this season for Providence registering six goals and six assists for 12 points. He has played in 26 career NHL games with Boston and Florida, earning 2-1=3 totals. Before Providence, Larman helped the London Knights of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) capture the 2005 Memorial Cup Championship after tallying 11-10=21 totals in 58 games during the regular season and 3-4=7 totals in 18 games during the 2005 playoffs. The Canton, Michigan native originally signed with the Florida Panthers as a free agent on September 28, 2005. He was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on July 13, 2009. The 22-year-old Lehtonen has skated in two career NHL games with Boston, playing with the Bruins on November 5, 2009 versus Montreal and on April 11, 2009, when he made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres. The 6’5” 203-pound Espoo, Finland native skated in 78 games with Providence this season, registering 23-27=50 totals and 58 penalty minutes. The forward led Providence in goals last season with 28 and finished fourth overall in scoring with 53 points (28-25) in 72 AHL games. Lehtonen was drafted by the Bruins in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The 29-year-old Sabourin served as the backup to Tim Thomas in the team’s games against the Islanders on March 6 and Penguins on March 7. He played 56 games this season for the Providence Bruins and registered a 28-27-0 record with three shutouts, a 2.67 goals against average and a .915 save percentage. The ten-year-pro is a veteran of 57 NHL games with the Flames, Canucks and Penguins and owns an 18-25-4 record in the NHL. Originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the 6’4” 200-pound Val d’Or, Quebec native was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on July 7, 2009. The 20-year-old Sauve skated in six games for Providence this season, making his pro debut on April 2. The 6’2” 184-pound forward tallied two power play goals in his debut and closes out Providence’s season with the two point total and two penalty minutes. Sauve spent the majority of the season with the Val d’Or Foreurs of the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League), where he recorded 18 goals and 24 assists (42 points) and 28 PIM in 31

games in the regular season and playoffs combined. The Tours, France native was selected by Boston in the second round (47th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
