Overview Most of today’s modern solid dosage production is accom-panied by coating. There are many reasons for coating your solid dose, such as color for marketing reasons or to increase bioavailability in case of solid dispersion. A clear understanding of the technology is necessary in order to develop and maintain an accurate and robust coating process.

Particle & Pellet coating – Fine particles, granules, pellets and tablets

The first day starts with an introduction to the processes of the fluid bed and drum coater. The excipients which are necessary for the coating process will also be highlighted. The day will close with a hands-on coating trial in group sessions. The second day is focused on modern technologies and the compression of pellets, increasing the bioavailability of solid dispersions and using the hotmelt process for demanding formulations. Later the participants will take part in special interest groups and work with coating projects. To gain a full understanding, the audience will be intro-duced to bio-relevance of certain dissolution media and troubleshooting from the coating process completed the previous day. The seminar will conclude with presenta-tions of the results of each working group.

Learning targets We provide solutions to all types of challenges for your day-to-day coating business. The seminar will provide answers to questions on taste masking, preparation of solid dispersion, coating of pellets, coating of tablets and the dissolution of these dosage forms. The participant will be able to perform hands-on coating processes on the Hüttlin equipment.

Anwendertraining – Schnellmischer & Wirbelschicht

Overview There is one thing all solid oral dosage forms have in common, and that is their manufacturing process needs to be transferred to production facilities before commercial-ization.

Scale-Up – Transferring products to production

This “Master of Solids” seminar aims to give a valuable insights into this topic. On the first day, participants are introduced to the phar- maceutical processes and their respective upscaling approaches. Participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the equipment for lab-scale trials, which will be scaled up the next day.Day two begins by focusing on scaling up the film coating of tablets. After lunch, participants will work in special interest groups, choosing from where they choose between the three lab-scale processes from the day before. The third day is focused on PAT tools, QbD per-spectives and capsule filling upscaling challenges. The seminar will close with an open discussion on upscaling approaches and the presentation of the group results.

Learning targets The content of the seminar delivers a deep understanding of the upscaling procedure of solid oral dosage forms. After the seminar participants will have a clear under-standing of the most critical processing parameters and will be able to set up an upscaling strategy. This knowl-edge is of particular importance in the field of QbD approaches.
