Everywhere you turn on campus, you can feel it. There’s an immeasurable level of enthusi-asm in Bronco Stadium, excitement on the banks of the Boise River and wide-eyed mo-ments of discovery in the classroom. This is feeling blue. Blue is not down, dejected and calm. It’s up, optimistic and bold. Blue makes you feel like you can do anything — and you usually do. After all, Boise State has every-thing you need to make it possible.

Maybe it’s our unbeatable location in the heart of the capital — the hub of government, business, the arts, health care, industry and technology — and our strong connections to hundreds of companies and organizations in the region. Maybe it’s because we’re Idaho’s metropolitan research university, or that our campus is filled with spirit and excitement. Maybe it’s our breathtaking surroundings in the great outdoors — just minutes from snowboarding, mountain biking, camping and hiking. For all these reasons and more, you just can’t help feeling that Boise State is the university of opportunity.

As a student, you’ll quickly discover that creating opportunities for you is our top priority. The more the better, we think. Why? Opportunity guarantees your success. Op-portunity — whether it’s in the classroom, in the lab or on the playing field — prepares you with all the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to excel in the world of tomorrow. Opportunity provides you with a university experience like no other. Opportunity in all directions. Opportunity in all the right places.

That’s Boise State.

RESEARCH

Being blue doesn’t mean sitting idly and staring at textbooks. At Boise State, it means "a-ha" moments you experi-ence working side-by-side with your professors. It’s not like that everywhere. At most universities, only graduate students can participate in research. Our commitment to providing direct, hands-on learning for all our students results in unmatched research exposure and opportunity.

You’ll work alongside faculty in a wide range of research projects, such as moni-toring groundwater flow, studying brain functions or conducting community sur-veys. You’ll co-write papers with faculty mentors. You’ll present your own findings at Boise State’s annual Undergraduate Research Conference or at professional meetings around the country.

Besides providing you with opportuni-ties to work with nationally recognized scholars, your research experience can also help open the door to graduate school or an exciting career.

OUTSTANDING FACULTY

The best teachers are those who are engaged, passionate about what they do and take a personal interest in your success. At Boise State, you’ll work with accomplished professors who are eager to collaborate and share their knowl-edge with you. Their achievements speak for themselves.

Many of our professors are internation-ally recognized scholars, authors or lecturers. Others consult for govern-ments and corporations worldwide or

spearhead groundbreaking research. Equally as dedicated to their students as they are to their work in the community, our professors keep regular office hours so that you can ask questions, seek advice or simply get to know them on a more personal level. And although Boise State is regarded as a major metropoli-tan research university, you’ll find that full-time professors, not graduate assis-tants, teach most of your classes—even introductory courses.

FINISH IN FOUR

You can learn a great deal about a university and the value of its educa-tion simply by taking a close look at the success of its students. At Boise State University, our number one priority is our students’ success, and we’ll do what it takes to help you achieve your goals. For instance, Finish in Four guarantees that you can complete a degree in four years if you follow a planned course of study. If not, Boise State will pay for the additional required courses.

I watched the World Cup with

advanced much further than anyone

expected that year. Even though

their team lost, they all took to

BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE FOR STUDENTS WHO WANT TO STUDY ABROAD

Just go for it! You get so much

more of a cultural experience

than just touring. You get to know

the neighborhoods, the families,

CULTURE & ENTERTAINMENT

Boise’s lively cultural and entertain-ment scene has plenty of things that’ll open your eyes. Enjoy the thriving music scene like Treefort or concerts in the Botanical Garden. Check out a variety of dance clubs, movie theaters or shops that cater to the college crowd. Discover no fewer than 15 museums, including the Boise Art Museum, Idaho Black History Museum, Basque Museum & Cultural Center, Anne Frank Human Rights Me-morial, World Center for Birds of Prey and Zoo Boise. Then take the short 10-minute walk back to campus. The only thing there may be a shortage of is time in between classes and studying.

A spectacular mountain-high desert rises majestically from a lush green val-ley. Small town warmth meets big city amenities. This virtual treasure chest of resources and opportunities seems almost too good to be true. It’s not. It’s Boise, or as the locals call their Idaho capital, “Boy-Cee." The largest urban area between Portland and Salt Lake City, it’s home to more than 635,000 people. Yet remarkably, it manages to keep its friendly neighborhood charm intact in a beautiful sunny climate.

According to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine, Boise is one of the ten great places in America that “will only get better.” A young city with a median resident age of just 33 years, Boise also maintains a healthy creative class. Profes-sionals who work as scientists, engineers, architects, educators, writers, artists or entertainers serve as the catalysts neces-sary for a thriving metropolis.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Boise is one of the fastest-growing high-tech cities in the nation and home to several corporate headquarters, state and federal offices, medical centers and media outlets. The city has garnered national recognition from U.S. News and World Report, Forbes and Inc. for being a great place to live, work and study, as well as being dubbed one of the hottest cities for entrepreneurs. With stats like these, it’s easy to see why nearly 41,000 alumni have chosen to live in the Treasure Valley (49,000 in Idaho) after graduating from Boise State.

The euphoria begins as you’re drifting on an inner tube along the river near campus. Then it ends with a full-on adrenaline rush at the ski hill or nearby mountain biking trails. Boise State is paradise for students who want to mix academics with easy access to pristine wilderness and outdoor adventures. It’s a place where you can catch air or a fish and be back in time for finals. Where you can be king or queen of the mountain and the classroom — all in the same day.

Boise State earns rave reviews from snowboarders, skiers, mountain bikers, whitewater rafters and rock climbers, as well as students who like to swim, camp, fly fish and hike. A dream school if you like your mountains high, your pow-der deep, your rivers fast and furious and your forests teeming with wildlife. Boise State delivers nonstop wonder and thrills.

Never tried any of these adventures? Don’t sweat it. Our Outdoor Program eliminates the obstacles. Every year, we help hundreds of students participate in organized trips. Through wilder-ness seminars, you’ll learn techniques and safety strategies. And thanks to our extensive, four-season equip-ment rental program, you can get all the gear you need for an outing in the Idaho wilderness without breaking your student budget.

Idaho offers more than 3,100 miles of whitewater river — more than any other state in the lower 48. At world famous Sun Valley you’ll find Bald Mountain. With a vertical drop of 3,400 feet, it’s widely considered the best single ski mountain in the world.

LIVING LEARNING

Living-Learning Communities (LLC) at Boise State create natural connections between the classroom and daily life. It's the best of both worlds — you can

enjoy all the usual advantages of living on campus in a residence hall, with the added benefit of living in a community of other students like you who enroll in academic classes together and share the same academic goals and interests. Having a ready-made support group makes all those college "firsts" a little less stressful, like the first meal in Boise River Cafe, or the first day of classes. Some LLCs have faculty in residence — how many college students can say they are neighbors with their professor?

From the top of the stands and rafters to courtside, you can hear it. There’s a deafen-ing roar like no other. Bronco Pride is alive and well at Boise State. This is a place where voices go hoarse, faces turn blue and muscles ache from jumping up and down. Any true Bronco fan will tell you that all of our sports teams enjoy a long and memo-rable history of thrills and successes. From men’s and women’s basketball to indoor and outdoor track & field, swimming and diving to tennis and wrestling, there's always heart-stopping action to cheer for at Boise State.

Blue and orange pride runs deep here. You can see it on every student in the stadium, and at times, on the painted faces of grandmas who call Boise home. This spirit of sportsmanship can be found both off the field and on as campus and community come together in incredible venues to cheer athletes competing in 20 men’s and women’s Division 1 intercollegiate sports.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Boise State University awards both merit- and need-based scholarships to qualifying students. Students seeking merit-based scholarships must have a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 3.00, and students seeking need-based aid must sub-mit their FAFSA by February 15th. All application materials must be received in Admissions by these dates to be considered:

Fall Non-Resident Priority Scholarship Date: December 15th Fall Scholarship Deadline: February 15th

To find out how you can be considered for as many Boise State scholarships as possible visit: financialaid.boisestate.edu/scholarships/

GEM/WUE SCHOLARSHIPS

Boise State offers two highly-competitive programs that can reduce the cost of nonresident tuition: GEM and WUE. The GEM Scholarship is for qualified nonresidents that waives the full time nonresident portion of tuition for out-of-state students. The WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) is a regional tuition-reciproc-ity agreement that enables students from 15 western states and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands to enroll at Boise State at 150 percent of the institution's resident tuition.

To meet the priority date for nonresident scholarships, all admission materials for new and transfer students must be received in Admis-sions by December 15, 2015. Students whose admissions materials arrive between December 16, 2015 and February 15, 2016 will be considered if scholarship resources remain available.

See if you qualify for either scholarship at: financialaid.boisestate.edu/gemwue

ADMISSIONS INDEX

The Boise State Admissions Index is used to evaluate your admissibility to Boise State. It combines high school GPA and ACT or SAT scores, placing the most weight on GPA. Find your GPA across the top and your test score down the left side. Draw a line from each toward the center until they intersect. If the intersection indicates you are an Excellent Candidate, you are highly likely to be admitted. If you are a Possible Candi-date, admission will depend on several factors, including your academic record, date of application, and class availability. Possible candidates may submit recommendations and a per-sonal statement for a more comprehensive review. Will you be admitted? Find out online at: admissions.boisestate.edu/index
