I. GENERAL INFORMATION A. Composition Geography : Bohol is geographically located between 123°40' and 124°40' East longitude

and extends from 9°30' to 10°15' North latitude, in the central portion of Visayas. Aside from the mainland, Bohol has 61 smaller offshore islands and islets. It is generally flat and plain with only few mountainous areas at the northeastern portion suitable for massive cultivation of agricultural products. The slopes of these mountainous areas have good potential for commercial/urban and even industrial site development because of their natural drainage capacity. Some of these mountainous areas, particularly those preserved from degradation, can serve as habitat for interesting flora and fauna as well as natural land forms that travelers look for, such as the landform for which Bohol has been noted, the Chocolate Hills. The interior uplands are potential for commercial forestry, fruit production, and livestock-raising and to a certain extent, high value crop production.

highest rainfall recording at 1,923.70mm in 1961 and lowest recording at 711.90mm in 1964. Latest data from PAGASA showed that the highest rain recorded in November 2001 is 447.5 millimeters (mm) and the lowest is 1.3mm in February 2005. The province experienced longer droughts that last for four months during period January to May in year 2001 to 2005. Generally, the rainy season is longer from June to December. Typhoons and other tropical depressions have rare occurrences in the province at an average frequency of about 28 occurrences.

Average temperature range in Bohol, CY: 2000-2008 Slope Source: Bohol Postharvest Development Plan (2009-2018) Approximately 167,160 hectares or 40.6% of the total provincial land area have slope gradients of 0-8%, largely covering the central of northern areas which comprise the prime agricultural zone utilized for irrigated and rainfed palay and corn production. The areas with 8-18% slopes accounted for 29% which is mostly planted with coconut, corn and subsistence crops and open/idle and eroded land areas. The rolling to mountain areas with slopes of 18% and above cover about 123,930 hectares or 30% of Bohol land area. Areas with slopes of 18% and above have been disturbed and exploited particularly for subsistence farming.

The most extensive type is the Ubay clay occurring from the central (Carmen & Sierra Bullones) to the north and northeastern (San Miguel & Alicia) and northwestern areas. At the southern municipalities of Lila, Dimiao, Valencia and Garcia Hernandez, Faraon clay predominates. Other soil types with relatively larger area coverages include the Batuan-Faraon complex, Ubay clay loam, Sevilla clay and Annam clay. Bohol's coastline is very extensive with its natural as well as artificially planted mangroves of different species. These mangroves serve as a good breeding ground for marine resources. Total mangrove area in the province is reported at 8,151 hectares. The marine waters also serve as a reliable source of income for fisherfolk. Municipal waters cover an area of 6,245.06 square kilometers. It has a total shoreline length of 653.65 kilometers excluding islands and islets. Its coastal resources are fast gaining popularity as haven for tourists, particularly to scuba divers. Vast coral reef formations and the presence of indigenous and rare species are sure attractions for leisure divers. The waters off Panglao Island, Balicasag Island, Pamilacan Island, Danahon Reef in northern Bohol and the Anda Peninsula area are identified as excellent scuba diving sites.

III. INFRASTRUCTURE AND SUPPORT SERVICES Transportation Facilities Source: Bohol Postharvest Development Plan (2009-2018) Air Transportation The province has only one domestic airport located at Booy District in the City of Tagbilaran. Currently, it caters to three (3) domestic airline companies with air routes to Manila, Cebu and Davao. Moreover, an International Airport Project in the Municipality of Panglao is being implemented by the Arroyo Administration. This project is expected to further boost the economy of Bohol. Sea Transportation The Tagbilaran City Wharf, now called the Tagbilaran City Tourist Pier, has fine port facilities such as: 2 dedicated berths for fast boats, 2 roro ramps, average cargo handling capacity of 49,000 tons accommodating 10 to 20 footer vans and container traffic of 5,142 TEUs. There are 9 daily ship calls to Cebu, 5 being fastcraft trips. Daily passenger traffic is approximately 4,000. Other regular destinations are Manila (four times a week), Cagayan de Oro City, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Iligan, Larena, Plaridel and Ozamiz City. There are four other port terminals which cater to Cebu and northern Mindanao routes. Land Transportation The 5,385 kilometers road network is well-developed facilitating access to all municipalities and barangays. The Bohol Circumferential Road Project, covering a total of 262 kilometers along the national highway has greatly improved the road network in the province.

Power Utilities Source: Bohol Postharvest Development Plan (2009-2018) The province is fully energized with the National Power Corporation being the sole supplier. Actual generation capability of 93.5 megawatts is supported by the following facilities: Diesel Power- 18 MW, Loboc Hydroelectric- 1.2 MW, Janopol Hydroelectric- 1.8 MW, Power Barge 105- 10.5 MW, Power Barge 207- 30 MW and Power Barge 101- 32 MW. The Leyte-Bohol inter-connection brings geothermal power of higher capacity base 80-100 megawatts.

Water Utilities Source: Bohol Postharvest Development Plan (2009-2018) Water supply is made available in Tagbilaran City and in the nearby municipalities on a 24 hour-basis with completion of the Tagbilaran Water Supply Project. Several water projects are in the pipeline to respond to water requirements for both domestic and industrial use. The Central Visayas Water and Sanitation Project and the construction of Level III water systems have made water available in 16 other municipalities. Likewise, the development of Ujan Spring in Cortes with a daily capacity of 3,500 cubic meters and Loboc River which will generate at least 100,000 cubic meters daily capacity are being pushed.

I. GENERAL INFORMATION A. Composition Geography : Bohol is geographically located between 123°40' and 124°40' East

longitude and extends from 9°30' to 10°15' North latitude, in the central portion of Visayas. Aside from the mainland, Bohol has 61 smaller offshore islands and islets. It is generally flat and plain with only few mountainous areas at the northeastern portion suitable for massive cultivation of agricultural products. The slopes of these mountainous areas have good potential for commercial/urban and even industrial site development because of their natural drainage capacity. Some of these mountainous areas, particularly those preserved from degradation, can serve as habitat for interesting flora and fauna as well as natural land forms that travelers look for, such as the landform for which Bohol has been noted, the Chocolate Hills. The interior uplands are potential for commercial forestry, fruit production, and livestock-raising and to a certain extent, high value crop production.

the highest rainfall recording at 1,923.70mm in 1961 and lowest recording at 711.90mm in 1964. Latest data from PAGASA showed that the highest rain recorded in November 2001 is 447.5 millimeters (mm) and the lowest is 1.3mm in February 2005. The province experienced longer droughts that last for four months during period January to May in year 2001 to 2005. Generally, the rainy season is longer from June to December. Typhoons and other tropical depressions have rare occurrences in the province at an average frequency of about 28 occurrences.
