International Services

As part of the world’s largest humanitarian organization, the American Red Cross helps provide immediate relief and supports community recovery following international disasters. The Red Cross also educates the public about International Humanitarian Law.

emergency communication services.• 1,367 military personnel and family members

received pre-deployment briefings.

Kentucky Tornado Outbreak of 2012:• 1,100 clients assisted.• Distributed 11,000 relief items. • Served 27,000 meals and snacks.• Deployed 500 Red Cross workers.

Our Red Cross WHEELS program is the mass-tran-sit system for disabled residents of Lexington. Any person who has a disability that prevents them from riding LexTran can qualify for the Wheels program. In FY 2012, WHEELS provided 165,000 rides and traveled nearly 1.6 million miles.
