BLAST OFF!For this two-six player game, each student will need a Blast Off recordingsheet, a pencil, and a die. Players will write a different high frequency word in the first box of each column. Players will roll the die and rewrite the high frequency word in the corresponding column. For example, if they roll a six, then the student will write the word in the sixth column. Players will continue to roll the die and write the words until one player has filled up an entire column. When players fill up an entire column, they shout “Blast off!!”.

The Blast off recording sheets can be copied on cardstock and laminated for use as well. The kids can use a vis-a-vis to write the words! This is a great activity for a small group guided reading

lesson or a word work station. This is also something I put out for the kids to do whenever they’re finished with their work!
