L’OLED, diode électroluminescente organique, révolutionne la relation à la lumière grâce à des
caractéristiques en rupture avec les solutions d’éclairages traditionnelles sous forme d’ampoules,
LED y comprise. Durables (20 000 h d’activité), ultraplates, légères, sans chaleur, ces sources lumineuses
forment des surfaces éclairantes de moins de deux millimètres d’épaisseur.
Elles appartiennent à la famille des sources de lumière à semi-conducteurs, tout comme les LED
abondamment utilisées dans les éclairages publics et l’automobile. à la différence de ces dernières,
elles utilisent des matières organiques composées de carbone et d’hydrogène pour l’émission de lumière.
BLACKBODY met la technologie OLED au service de l’émotion et de la création.
La lumière devient matériau à part entière, se déclinant dans une infinité de formes et de couleurs pour
permettre à l’architecture et au design des approches innovantes, personnalisées, source d’émotion pure.
Les concepteurs de luminaires peuvent ainsi ajouter à la fonction d’éclairage, les sens de la vue et
du toucher pour « donner vie » à leurs créations.
LA LUMIÈRE AU SERVICE DU DESIGN
OLEDs, organic light-emitting diodes form 2 mm thin luminous surfaces. They belong to the family
of semi-conductor lighting sources just like LEDs, which are commonly used for outdoor lighting
and automobiles. However, OLEDs rely on organic substances such as carbon and hydrogen to emit light.
OLED lighting solutions give rise to a new use for light. Long-lasting (20,000 hour life), ultra flat,
glare-free, and heat-free, these luminous panes are reinventing home lighting.
Light becomes a fully functional material, which adopts an endless variety of forms or colors, enabling
architects as well as designers to explore innovative and personalized approaches. As such, it allows lamp
designers to associate lighting with visual and tactile senses, bringing life to their creations.

La fabrication des solutions d’éclairage innovantes à base d’OLED de BLACKBODY est rendue possible
par une structure qui associe performance, autonomie et pluridisciplinarité. Le site de production situé à Toulon,
s’étend sur 1 200 m2 et comprend des équipements à la pointe de l’innovation et de la performance.
Doté d’un évaporateur de grande dimension et d’une salle blanche de 600 m2, cet outil industriel inédit permet
d’obtenir 6 000 m2 de dalles d’OLED par an, dont la taille peut atteindre les 470 mm x 370 mm. Ces capacités de
production importantes répondent à un marché en pleine expansion et sont complétées par un département tests
destiné à évaluer la durée de vie, les données colorimétriques et photométriques des OLED produites.
Enfin, la pluridisciplinarité des équipes, dans des domaines aussi divers que la physique quantique,
l’optique non linéaire, la chimie ou l’électronique, permet à BLACKBODY de jouir d’une autonomie totale,
de la production à la phase de tests, atout considérable sur une technologie récente et innovante.
Un outil industriel performant A high performance industrial resource
The production of OLED-based innovative lighting solutions is enabled by a structure that associates
performance, autonomy and interdisciplinarity. The production site located in Toulon is 1,200 m2 in surface area
and features highly innovative and efficient facilities.
With its large evaporator and its 600 m2 clean room, it produces 6,000 m2 of OLED panes per year,
which can reach 470 mm by 370 mm in size. This large production capacity satisfies the growing market
requirements and is complemented by an evaluation department that tests the durability,
colorimetric and photometric qualities of OLED production.
Finally, the collaborators’ interdisciplinarity, in various fields such as Quantum Physics, non-linear Optics,
Chemistry and Electronics allows BLACKBODY total autonomy from the production to the evaluation phase,
a true asset for this recent and innovative technology.
