Biblical Christianity

Modern Christianity has come a long way the wrong direction

Page 2: Biblical christianity

Modern Christianity is viewed as a pacifistic, effeminate, social club;

However, true Bible Christianity paints a very different picture.

Page 3: Biblical christianity

Matthew 16:13-1713 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi,

he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the

Christ, the Son of the living God.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art

thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

2 Questions you need an answer to:

• Who was (or is) Jesus?• How does this knowledge affect me?

Page 5: Biblical christianity

…Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets

Men likened Jesus to this list of men so what were they like?

Page 6: Biblical christianity

John the Baptist

• The fulfillment of prophecy:– Isaiah 40:3– Malachi 3:1– John 1:19-27– John 3:23-30

Page 7: Biblical christianity

Why would men accept Jesus as John the Baptist and not Christ?

• John the Baptist declares himself not the final authority. (John 3:30)

• Today men are willing to accept Jesus as ‘a’ way without committing to him as the only way; making themselves the final authority.

Page 8: Biblical christianity

…Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets

What does this group of men have in common that they can be so easily

confused for one another?

Page 9: Biblical christianity

They physically did not fit into sociality.

• Matthew 3:4• Mat. 11:8-9, Luke 7:25• Zechariah 13:4• 2 Kings 1:8

Your appearance tells a story

• ___ is always unhappy.• ___ is always happy. • ___ is clueless.

• Your mind will fill in the blanks with an individual because we were made to discern.– 1 Kings 20:41, Luke 12:56, Hebrews 5:14

O. T. example

Judges 818 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What

manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

Similar speech:

• John the Baptist Matthew 3:77 But when he saw many

of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

• JesusMatthew 75 Thou hypocrite, first cast

out the beam out of thine own eye

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts

The mark of Biblical Christianity

Matthew 7:28-2928 And it came to pass, when

Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Authority

Page 14: Biblical christianity

1 Kings 17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the

inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

1 Kings 18:39-41

The mark of Biblical Christianity

Acts 4:1313 Now when they saw the

boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

AuthorityBoldness

Page 16: Biblical christianity

Ephesians 5:1111 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful

works of darkness, but rather reprove them.2 Corinthians 11:66 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in

knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

• 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 only a loser can recognize he needs a savior.

The mark of Biblical Christianity

Hebrews 4:1212 For the word of God is

quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

AuthorityBoldnessPower

Page 18: Biblical christianity

Matthew 28:18-1918 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Page 19: Biblical christianity

Matthew 5:1414 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set

on an hill cannot be hid.

Light does not negotiate with the darkness to find out how much light the darkness is comfortable allowing; Light simply shines with all its power to expel as much of the darkness as it can.

Page 20: Biblical christianity

John 3:1919 And this is the condemnation, that light is

come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Biblical Christianity should be offensive to the world.

Page 21: Biblical christianity

The more time you spend with Jesus and the more of his word you

put out the more authority, boldness and power the world will

see in Christianity.
