BI Applications 11.1.1.5/11.1.1.6

• BI Applications 11.1.1.5 and 11.1.1.6 releases support Fusion Applications as the only source

• Installation and Provisioning of the Fusion Applications, BI and Transactional BI occur together

• BI Applications is optional and can be set up at a later time

• All BI Applications files required for setup are available; Installer doesn’t have to be re-run

Components of BI Applications 11.1.1.5/11.1.1.6

• Business Analytics Warehouse• Prebuilt data warehouse

• DAC Client and Server• Orchestrates ETL. DAC Server is an enterprise application

deployed in WebLogic

• Informatica PowerCenter Client and Services• 3rd party tool used to perform data load from Fusion

Applications to the Business Analytics Warehouse

Page 6: BIApps11g Setup April2012

Components of BI Applications, contd.

• BI Applications Configuration Manager (BIACM)• Web application used to perform functional setups

• Functional Setup Manager (FSM)• Web application leveraged by BI Applications Configuration

Manager to provide dynamic task generation capability based on user selection of BI Applications being implemented

• RPD• Common file for Transactional BI (OTBI) and BI Applications

• Presentation Catalog• Common file for OTBI and BI Applications

• Informatica Repository• Contains prebuilt ETL logic

Fusion Applications Installation and Provisioning Overview

Page 9: BIApps11g Setup April2012

Fusion Apps Installation and Provisioning - Overview

• Fusion Apps Install and Provisioning• Creates a functional Fusion Applications Environment• During BI Provisioning phase of FA Install and Prov

• BI Domain created with BI EE and EPM components• BI and Fusion Applications wiring performed• OTBI deployed (BI Applications not deployed and setup)

• Steps• Prepare for an Installation

• Install Oracle IDM• Obtain Software from Software Delivery Cloud and unzip all zip

files to obtain the “Install Repository” (this repository contains all installers the including BI Applications installer)

• Install Fusion Applications Provisioning Framework• Install a Transactional Database• Create a Provisioning Plan• Execute the Provisioning Plan – all installers automatically called,

software installed and configured

Page 10: BIApps11g Setup April2012

BI Domain and CRM Domain – BI Components after FA Install and Prov

Analytics VOs and BI Broker servlet – used in OTBI query and BI Apps ETL

Page 11: BIApps11g Setup April2012

BI Domain

• BI Domain refers to the WLS Domain for BI and also refers to the machine or machines hosting the BI components

• In the BI Domain, one Admin Server and one Managed Server are created. Managed Server contains

• Presentation Services J2EE plug-in (SawBridge)

• BI Publisher

• RTD, etc.

• BI EE C++ components are installed

• Presentation Services

• BI Server, etc.

Page 12: BIApps11g Setup April2012

BI View Objects and BI Broker Deployment

• The BI View Objects (Analytics VOs) EAR files deployed on each Fusion Applications WLS Domain as Applications

• BI Broker servlet deployed in each Fusion Applications WLS Domain

• The BI View Objects are accessed by the BI Server using the BI Broker

Page 13: BIApps11g Setup April2012

RPD Configurations

• Connections to the three Fusion Applications Pillars in the RPD (VO Data Sources)

• URL points to BI Broker

• SQL Bypass DB set to the connection which points to the Fusion Apps DB

• User set to FUSION_APPS_BI_APPID

• SQL Bypass (example, FSCM_OLTP) connections to Fusion Apps DB

Page 14: BIApps11g Setup April2012

BI Provisioning - Summary

• BI Domain created• Analytics VOs and BI Client objects deployed to the

appropriate Fusion Applications WLS Domains• WebLogic connection pools for the three applications

pillars and the SQL Bypass connections in the RPD are configured

• BI Applications Security Roles are provisioned• Transactional BI deployed

BI Applications software bits and files are installed during Fusion Applications Install and Provisioning in BI Middleware Home, but not no BI Applications components are set up or deployed

Install Informatica 8.6.1

• Determine which machines will host Informatica PowerCenter Client Tools and Informatica PowerCenter Services. • Informatica PowerCenter Services can be installed on UNIX or

Windows. Informatica PowerCenter Client Tools must be installed on Windows.•For DAC and Informatica Integration •Co-locate DAC Client with the Informatica Clients.•Co-locate DAC Server with PowerCenter Services or make the Informatica

binaries and infa.domains file available to DAC by placing them on a shared network location and provide a shared location for parameters files

.

Please review section 3.4.4 “Setup Step: Install and Set Up Informatica

PowerCenter” in the BI Apps Install and Configuration Guide 11.1.1.6.0

Page 22: BIApps11g Setup April2012

Install DAC and Informatica Clients

Please review Sections 3.4.19 “Setup Step: Install DAC Client” and Section

3.4.4.4, "Installing Informatica PowerCenter Client Tools (Windows)." in the BI

Apps Install and Configuration Guide 11.1.1.6.0

• PowerCenter client tools and DAC Client must be installed on the Windows-based machine. • If Informatica PowerCenter Client Tools are not collocated on the machine, then DAC Client must have access to the Informatica PowerCenter binaries and the domains.infa file on a shared network location.

Component Integration SetupsConfigure BI Application components for communication (wiring)

•Section 3.5.10 Setup Step: Configuring Physical Data Source Connections in DAC

• New in 11g: Create connections to the BI Applications Configuration Manager and to the BI Server. No direct connections are created to the Fusion Applications Database

•Section 3.5.11 Setup Step: Configuring Relational Connections in Informatica

• New in 11g: Create Relational Connection (of Type ODBC) to BI Server instead of to the Fusion Applications DB. On the Informatica PowerCenter Services machine hosting the Integration Services, create an ODBC connection to the BI Server. (3.4.5 Setup Step: Create an ODBC DSN to the Oracle BI Server)

Run Domains ETLThis step loads source-specific data into to the Oracle BI Applications Configuration Manager tables. This enables Oracle BI Applications Configuration Manager to display the appropriate source-specific values as choices to Functional Developers in FSM. The data from the Fusion Applications source is loaded into the Oracle BI Applications Configuration Manager tables using ETL routines.

NEXT STEPS:The BI Applications environment is now set up and ready for functional configurations to be performed.

Please review section 3.4.21 “Setup Step: Run Domains ETL” in the BI Apps

Install and Configuration Guide
