Trouble Shooting: Possible Solutions to Common Problems Hearing aids always seem to act up at the most inconvenient times. Here are some suggestions to help get you by until you can get in to see us. Dead Hearing Aid: 1. Check for wax in microphone (a small opening, usually above the battery door). Use brush to clean it if you see debris, wax, dried skin, etc. Only use the brushDO NOT pick at this area. 2. Check receiver (end that goes into the ear canal) for wax. You may use the black stick with the pick on the end of it to clean this area, then brush. 3. If you wear a behind-the-ear aid, check the end of the ear mold for wax. 4. Check your battery. It could be dead. If you wear 2 hearing aids and one is working and one is not, take the battery from the one that is working and put it in the dead aid…that way you will not waste a new battery. 5. Look in the tube on the behind-the-ear aid to see if there is any moisture in the tube. Take to your specialist if there is.

If you are physically active, it is possible that your hearing aids may have built up moisture inside the casing. Moisture can affect both behind-the-ear and in-the-ear models. Having a Dry-Aid moisture removal kit on hand and putting your hearing aids in it each night when you go to bed may help prevent having to send the aids in for repair. Remember, you are always welcome to come into our office for assistance with any kind of difficulty you are experiencing with your hearing aids or your hearing, even if you didn't buy them from us.
