Committee News Assistance Team

Although the weather improved somewhat during the month of March, our turnout was lower than expected. While we were open all four Wednesday mornings, cold, rainy conditions on the second Wednesday again kept many of our patrons away. During the month of March we served a total of 189 households, averaging 47 per week. !We would like to thank Michelle Jackson for coordinating with Dunkin’ Donuts to provide donuts to our patrons. Michelle picks up the unsold donuts at 10pm, brings them to the Fellowship Hall, and then puts them in individual zip lock bags for us to distribute on one or two Wednesdays each month! What a treat as well as a kind gesture and lots of work on Michelle’s part! !Page Memorial Methodist Church in Aberdeen has added the first and third Friday of each month to its schedule of free lunches. Many of their volunteers are from other churches and they can always use more. Contact the Page Church office if you are interested in volunteering! !

Faith Weaving Friends News******************************************************

The monthly meeting of Faith Weaving Friends (FWF) was held March 21 with nine FWF, four adult leaders, and three youth helpers present. We were happy that Elizabeth and Brandon Wilson brought their cousins, Marissa and Carson Watts to FWF. Kristy Ransdell was another special guest who came to lead our craft session. !Kelly, Ella, Palmer, and Miss Kim lead FWF in several rounds of kickball. After pizza and grapes, FWF participated in the Bible lesson. The parable Jesus told about the wise and foolish builders was presented. We discussed the importance of building our lives on Jesus, our Rock. The comments and questions of FWF during the lesson were often "deep" and indicative of faith nurturing at home and in Sunday School. !Eating pizza and  playing kickball are always a hit with FWF, but Miss Kristy's craft project created much excitement! With help from Miss Lisa, Miss Kristy taught FWF how to make a nest building "kit" for birds. FWF snipped and clipped colorful ribbons, yarns, and feathers, fabric, and cotton balls with thistle seeds which were stuffed into the cylinders to be hung in a tree. Any self-respecting bird would welcome the opportunity to build his family's nest in such splendor! When a leader commented on the mess (necessary!) we were making, Justin cheerfully said we could always call on Merry Maids! Miss Kim led FWF in singing as they finished their craft. Special thanks to Jim Ransdell for making 20 wire cylinders for the craft!! !All children ages K-5th grade are encouraged to attend FWF which meets on the 3rd Friday of each month. Supper ($3), games, Bible study, music, crafts and mission projects are program components. Each is designed to help our youth as they grow in their faith in God and His Word, their fellowship with one another, and service to the world. !
