From advising to teaching, we are dedicated to giving you the tools you need to succeed. And everything is taught from a Christian perspective, honoring the truths found in Scripture while giving you the freedom to question, challenge, and discover things on your own.

Bethany professors form strong relationships with their students;

they will push you towards success, supporting you every step of the way.

Office time is not limited to an hour every other day. Our professors’ doors are left open to encourage visits from students. From a friendly hello in the hall to in-depth guidance on future plans, Bethany professors truly care about and inspire each student to achieve and be their best.

Our professors make you their priority, and you’ll appreciate the results.

Associate Professor of English

“We take students seriously at BLC—as individuals, as intellects, as citizens, as future leaders. We involve them in academic and industrial research, internships, regional, national, and international student organizations and clubs, campus life and extra-curricular activities.

I make an effort to know my students’ names, majors, and interests. Advising students—about their post-graduate, professional, and spiritual hopes and needs—is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. When our English majors graduate, I feel as if I am saying goodbye to members of my family; commencement is always a bittersweet experience.

Our students develop a curiosity that is confident, bold, and, simultaneously, cautious. They approach learning as an ongoing process, one that they are equipped to engage—critically and ethically; boldly and cautiously.”

Learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom. Nearly 90% of Bethany students participate in an extracurricular activity. Athletics, arts, student government, broadcast crews, there’s something for everyone.

In the gym, on the field,or from the stage, this is your place to shine.

You will learn in a setting where matters of faith are applied to the foundations of science, literature, history, and art, and you will be encouraged to think about your education from a Christian viewpoint.

Through active discussion on the foundations of our faith as well as present-day issues, a Bethany education will

ultimately allow you to affirm and defend your beliefs while growing spiritually.

Your spiritual well-being is at the heart of our mission, giving you a foundation of truth based on God’s word. Students of any denomination are welcomed and encouraged to further their knowledge of Christianity and to grow spiritually.

From the chapel to the classroom,Christian faith is at the center of a Bethany education.

Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.

Connections that lasta lifetime.

Page 13: Bethany Lutheran College Viewbook

Our close campus community allows you to form lasting connections with outstanding professors as well as lifelong friendships with fellow students. It’s not on the surface; it’s a genuine, friendly experience.

When we talk of friendships formed at Bethany as some of the most enduring, we understand the impact they have on our lives. This unique, supportive atmosphere and community feeling truly sets our campus apart.

Kate RuschmeyerClass of 2016 Biology major and Spanish minor “Students are there for each other in a variety of ways at Bethany. If someone is struggling academically, students help each other with homework or concepts they may not understand. If someone is struggling mentally or emotionally, sometimes a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on can help more than we will ever know. And if someone is struggling spiritually, students remind each other of the precious Gospel message of forgiveness and bring friends to chapel with them.

I’m happy to be in a place with so many people who value God’s Word as much as I do. The friends I’ve made at Bethany will be lifelong friends. These are the kinds of people I want in my life and I’ve found them here at Bethany.”

Bethany’s unique environment turnsclassmates into lifelong friends.

From art to engineering, our alumni are making a significant impact within their chosen fields.

You can find Bethany alumni every-where, working as teachers, designers, scientists, and business leaders. They’ve found success in medical school, law school, and in graduate research at prestigious institutions. Bethany grad-uates work for well-known companies such as Apple, ESPN, FOX Sports, Mayo Health Systems, and Target Corporation to name just a few.

The foundation for success begins when students have the opportunity to complete valuable internships giving them experience and credentials for their resume.

In addition, many students broaden their horizons through international study, taking them to exciting destinations around the world.

And because students earn credit for their study abroad experience, they can still expect to graduate on time.

Miles KelsonClass of 2015Attending law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law

Miles Kelson is just one of many Bethany students who’ve studied law after earning a bachelor’s degree at Bethany.

Kelson’s Bethany education certainly helped him in the law school admission process. He received the Chicago-Kent Dean’s Full Tuition Merit Scholarship. This is a scholarship with a total value of $134,415 over three years.

Kelson majored in business administration but took several legal studies courses while at Bethany. He noted, “The legal studies courses have provided me a foundation in law that is directly applicable in my work (internship) at the Blue Earth County Public Defender’s office. Bethany’s classes and internship opportunities are experiences that have prepared me for my entry into law school.”

Our well-grounded students and alumnican be found all over the world.
