Celebrating Polish Heritage in America Since 1608

For the past 405 years, Polish heritage has been represented in America. Since the fi rst Polish settlers landed at Jamestown, Virginia, in 1608, until today, Polish people have celebrated the traditions and culture of their ancestors from Poland. Polish American organizations, churches, and

youth, cultural and historic organizations across the U.S.A. are a prominent part of what is referred to as the Great Ethnic Mosaic of America.

The fi rst Polish settlers arrived on October 1,1608, to open the fi rst glass industry in America, and over the years, millions of Polish immigrants have joined them in search of the American dream. The largest waves arrived during America's industrial revolution, during both world wars and during the years of Communist oppression in Poland. Today, 24 million Americans share

full or partial Polish heritage and people of Polish heritage can look at their family history and see how much Poles in America have contributed to the well-being of every aspect of society and see how much their history, culture, faith and pride grew in the Great Mosaic of America since the arrival of the fi rst Polish settlers in 1608.
