DESCRIPTION

The AndamanIsland is a top vacation destination. They are a group of about 300 islands and islets, like a string of pearls spread in the Bay of Bengal. They belong politically to the Indian Union. The largest island is Middle Andaman Island with 1,536 km², while the smallest island, Ross Island, has an area of only 0.8 km². Only about 39 of the many islands are inhabited, the rest is untouched nature. Most of the population (approximately 100,000) live in the capital Port Blair. The area was named after Archibald Blair of the British East India Company. In 1798, he founded the nearby penal colony. Port Blair was founded in 1858 by the British and was from 1943 to 1944 the headquarters of the Indian National Army.Port Blair is a busy town and offers the traveler all the modern facilities. It is an ideal base from which to explore the archipelago. Sights of the city are, inter alia, the Cellular Jail, dating back to 1886, which was a British prison at that time. The Mini Zoo in Port Blair presents some rare animals of the island fauna in old wooden cages and has its own crocodile farm. The Chatham Saw Mill is one of the oldest and largest sawmills in Asia. Particularly interesting is the Anthropology Museum. Here you can admire clothing and utensils of the aborigines, a very primitive race of pygmies.Even today, many islands of the archipelago are inhabited by various tribes, whose ancestors have lived in the Stone Age. They include the Onges, the Jarwans and the Shompens. Many of these islands are protected and are not accessible for even Indians. The 10-day Island Tourism Festival from December to March held annually in the city of Port Blair. Dance groups of the surrounding islands come to showcase their music and folk dances. The highlight of the festival is the Andaman Dog Show, which seems quite bizarre. The remote location of the archipelago has a particularly unique fauna and flora which are found nowhere else in the world, such as Andaman wild boar or the crab-eating macaque (monkey species). There are 250 different native birds. The islands are an ideal place to relax and enjoy nature.Miles of deserted white sand beaches, best diving spots with crystal pure water and an incredible variety of marine life and coral attract visitors from all over the world. Where else can you discover such a huge tropical fish or contiguous rainforests? The island chain offers a variety of opportunities to experience its beauty - whether in the form of diving, other water sports such as Water skiing, windsurfing or rowing. Likewise, trekking, island camping or trips are offered in the neighboring islands. For more details in the family packages and details about the packages please visit the website: http://www.andamanisland.inVenue Details:Andaman Island Travels,144/4, Shop NO.3,J.N.Road,Goalghar, Port Blair-744102,Phone No – 03192-236649/235670/231530Mobile No – +91-9933254290 / +91-9932088858Email –[email protected]
