What will I learn on the course?Kansa Vatki (KV) Foot Massage with marma therapy (Indian acupressure) is an ancient Ayurvedic health-care modality, which balances the body, mind and spirit. This unique treatment, steeped in centuries of ceremony, involves the use of ghee (clarified butter) or oils. The massage is deeply revitalising for tired feet and legs and, as the feet contain key energy and nerve endings relating to internal organs, a Kansa Vatki treatment also helps to rebalance the doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha energies).

• Just under an hour in duration, the treatment begins by cleansing the feet, followed by some relaxing foot and leg moves. Slowly and methodically the toes, feet, ankles and calves are helped to relax. The treatment continues with special moves performed with a small 3-metal ‘Kansa Vatki’ bowl. The 3 metals are copper, zinc and tin – copper is thought to be helpful in reducing pain and inflammation; zinc is thought to assist the immune system and digestion and tin is thought to aid digestion, headaches and insomnia.

• The treatment also includes a re-balancing sequence of marma massage (Indian acupressure); a traditional Indian therapy, that is derived from a branch of the martial arts. There are 107 main Marma pressure points around the body, 14 of which can be found on the lower legs and feet. Working these points can help to relieve certain conditions around the body and free the energy flow.

• This wonderful treatment may help detoxify and balance the body’s energies leaving you feeling refreshed and relaxed. The treatment can be taken alone or combines well with another treatment such as massage or reflexology.
