Bone. The 4th Generation name comes from the style knife I remember my Papa sittinthe front porch on Saturday afternoon, listing to a Braves game on the radio and peeli

an apple. I would try to peel that apple without breaking the peel. My Papa Griffey walways accomplish this seemingly impossible task. I can also remember sitting with

Papa, Dad and Uncle whittlin a piece of cedar. I can still smell that pile of ne shavinthe end of the day.

These classic knives have Brass Liners and Nickel Silver Bolsters, and 4th GeneratioShield.

The history of Bear & SonCutlery is a very proud history ofcombined knowledge from manyprestigious cutlery companies. Itstarted in 1991, when 3 men boughtthe Parker Edwards facility in

Jacksonville, Alabama. The facilitywas famous for the production ofDamascus steel knives. Also, ourfacility was the newest plant andONLY complete southern cutleryplant. Many people did not knowthis was the sister plant to W. R.Case & Sons Cutlery. The 3 of us;Herman McIntosh, Ken Griffey,and Greg Cook, saw this as agreat opportunity to continue tofollow our passion for making highquality cutlery, so we started BearMGC Cutlery. Our resumes wereimpressive with the combinedknowl edge of W. R. Case, Gerber,and Parker Edwards. Between thethree of us, and our wives, we hadover 100 years of experience inthe cutlery industry. In addition,our supervisors and managementteam had lengthy experience with

Parker Edwards, Chicago Cutlery,& Gerber. This rounded out thebest starting group anyone couldask for in the cutlery industry. Thenewly formed company, Bear MGCCutlery, began to takeoff with

numerous Blade MagazineAwards.Perhaps the largest jump

in name recognition was in1995, when Bear inventedthe most innovative newmulti-tool on the market,according to Blade Magazine.In 1999, Swiss Army Brands,Inc. purchased Bear MGC.During this time, McIntoshand Cook decided it wastime to retire and spend timewith their families, while Istayed on and ran the facility forSwiss Army Brands, Inc. Sandy,my wife, had worked for Bearin the premium and purchasingdepartments, since 1991. Matt, myson, worked on the factory oorlearning how to build a qualityknife from start to nish, since he

was 18 years old. Inthe three of us, myseMatt decided to buyfrom Swiss Army Brarenamed the companyCutlery and released

makers do BY HAND and one at a time!Bear & Son Cutlery offers three free merchandisers

and eight display panels (four revised 2010 panels).The D-36 display features one panel. The D-72 display

I caught myself looking through some old family photographs a while back and was drawn to aphotograph I had never seen before. It was a picture of my grandfather holding an old Robesonknife. I couldnt wait to call my Dad to see if he knew the whereabouts of the knife. Not onlydid we find the knife pictured, but we found a couple of other knives my Grandfather had owned. Isuppose we all come to think about our heritage at some point in our lives. The photograph of myGrandfather really made me focus on mine. What could be more appropriate than for me to makesome knives in the style of those old knives my Grandfather had owned and loved so long ago? Now that my son, Matt, is in the business with me, the timing seems perfect for launching thisnew Bear and Son Cutlery Collection. How special it is to work with my son on the HeritageCollection, which to our customers, will be knives collected and cherished for years to come. ToMatt and me, these knives are made in tribute to my Grandfather and continue the tradition ofmaster craftsmen long ago. My Grandfather would be proud of the American-made quality with which these knives aremade. These knives feature genuine bone and Mother of Pearl handles, long pull nail marksand highly polished 440 Stainless Steel blades. The Heritage Collection features a special tangstamp, a special blade etch, a special inlaid shield and is packaged in a special tin box. Morethan 91 hand steps by a staff of skilled craftsmen will assure quality matching those knives thatwere favorites of my Grandfather so long ago.
