Issue 3 - January 2015
Welcome to Issue number three of Beacon News.
As Christmas and New Year are done and packed away for another twelve months, we begin to look forward to what 2015 will bring and what’s in store for the Offshore Industry. The industry as a whole projects rocky times ahead and the future of many offshore personnel is very much unknown in these turbulent times. Yes, Oil prices are at the lowest point for five and a half years, staff are being made redundant and companies are implementing cost cutting strategies but as of yet, etpm haven’t seen any major damaging repercussions. In fact, it’s very much business as usual both in the Great Yarmouth office as well as Aberdeen.
Team Great Yarmouth have a number of decommissioning and wind farm projects in the pipe-line for 2015, which will be sure to help ease any fears freelancers may have over available work for the next 12 months. We also have lots of ongoing, regular work with our clients as well as the typical Ad Hoc and urgent vacancies as well. As far as we can see, it’s going to be a busy year for the GY office indeed.
Office Christmas Party
The annual Christmas Party was had by the Great Yarmouth office in December at the local horse racing course. A Bond themed evening with cocktails, Bond Girls and a Casino to boot ensured that the whole team had a brilliant night. Although as always, there was some sketchy dance moves by the end of the
evening!
Survey
We are pleased to welcome Mike Flaherty to the Sur-vey team. Mike has many years experience working within the Survey industry worldwide and will be work-ing with us over the coming months to help develop
and grow the Survey division. Watch this space!
Inspection – Decommissioning the word of 2015
It may be the year of the Sheep for Chinese New Year but 2015 is setting out to be the year of the 3.4u. There’s a lot of activity planned with many projects due to take place in the inspection world this year. Decommissioning will play a major part of 2015 for the majority of inspection personnel
and will ensure we remain busy during 2015.
Subsea Engineering Course
100% Pass rate with Sally, Dean & Heidi passing their Introduction to Subsea
Engineering Course, which was undertaken with the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen
& Subsea UK.
ROV – Busy Time Ahead
It is looking to be a very busy year if you are an experienced Eyeball
pilot as most of the work is currently pointing in that
direction with work such as drill support looking to take a knock in 2015, but alas we will as ever endeavour to find you guys all plenty of work to keep you going
for 2015.
Subsea Expo
Make sure you come and see us at the Subsea EXPO in Aberdeen between the 11th and 13th February on stand number 102. A full Subsea lowdown will be available in
the next issue.
Burns Night
In support to our Scottish colleagues in the Aberdeen office we will be hosting a burns night event for the Great Yarmouth office and local clients. We are looking forward to trying Haggis, Neeps, Tatties and cranachan. Update on how it all goes in the next issue.
