BEACHES - PARADISE IN THE WORLD The natural wonders of beaches of the world have always been enticing to people of all ages from the young to the seniors who never tire of visiting the natural beauty once in awhile in their lifetime. Many memories and gatherings are shared on beaches where friendship, relationships grow stronger forming that bond of sharing wonderful, cherished moments. A beach is a landform along shoreline of an ocean, sea, lake or river. It usually consists of loose particles, which are often composed of rock, such as sand, gravel, shingle, pebbles, or cobblestones. Beaches are a result of wave action by which waves or currents move sand or other loose sediments of which the beach is made as these particles are held in suspension. The shape of the beach depends on whether the waves are constructive or destructive, and whether the material is sand or shingle. Constructive waves move material up the beach while destructive waves move the material down the beach. On sandy beaches, the backwash of the waves removes material forming a gently sloping beach. On shingle beaches the swash is dissipated because the large particle size allows percolation, so the backwash is not very powerful, and the beach remains steep. This forms the uneven face on some sand shorelines. Several beaches are claimed to be the “world’s longest including; Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh (120 kilometers unbroken), Praia do Cassino (212 kilometers in Brazil), Frazer Island Beach, Australia’s 90 mile beach (151 kilometer beach), the 88 kilometer beach in New Zealand, Troia-Sines Beach (63 kilometers in Portugal), and the Long Beach, Washington (40 kilometers). The beaches can be popular on warm sunny days. The beaches offer inviting views, clear cool blue water and pristine white sand. Popular beaches in the world have developed several establishments, from diamond to star categories, to provide vacationers a wonderful experience. But these beaches also provide econo-types of accommodation to cater to all types of visitors that come their way. Today, there are several activities that provide added experience in beaches, where ethnic celebrations and festivities are so colorful and grace special occasions at times of the year. The water sports that are popular in some beaches include; wind surfing, wind boarding, banana rides, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, fishing, kayak racing, and more. These water sports are offered to visitors by friendly locals hoping to provide a wonderful experience on their brief visit to beach.
