sang from a mans point of view and a woman is mentioned ("When all of the signs say that I should forget her") I believe that a man has been through a rough patch with his girlfriend. Whatever she did, it was wrong and clearly left an impact or battle scars on him.

The whole song in itself is a metaphor because throughout the song it refers to a relationship as a battle. In a relationship, you don't actually go through a war and when something terrible happens you don't physically have a scar from it.

"I wish..." is used multiple times during the song to stress how much the speaker wishes things were different. He wishes that the good outweighed the bad. I think he also wished that he could move on from whatever it was that happened between them.

The speaker uses exaggeration because he wants to emphasize how much hurt he has gone through and that being set on fire would be like putting him out of his misery. Using this hyperbole, it does an intense job of getting his point across.

Why I chose this song...Battle Scars can relate to so many different

issues in relationships. Whether it's infidelity, lying, abuse, falling out of love, or just opposites attracting; relationships are never easy.

This song expresses the hurt that one could feel from going through a tough situation. For example, if someone cheats on you you're not just going to forget about it. It'll stick with you.
