Germans had started the assault in blizzard because of they did not want to sustain losses to allied air superiority.But Germans were effected worse due to fuel shortage and poor road station.

ATTACK ON THE NORTHEN SHOULDER1. SS Panzer Division which was the best panzer division in western front attacked Elsenborn Ridge.Assault was unsuccessiful due to fuel shortage and lack of well trained soldiers.However it newest and strongest tank Tiger 2 consumed a gallon of fuel for half mile.

GERMANS ADVANCE WESTGermans was taking the fuel from towns which they have captured but American forces started to taking fuel from the towns which about to fall and tried to blow up bridges for stop German advance.Due to lack of fuel German forces was not able continue their assault.

GERMAN ADVANCE HALTEDSupply line between German forces was cut by US forces because of this German forces could not advance.US forces pushed back German forces and they had started a counter offensive.

ATTACK IN THE CENTERGermans attack with infantry divisions and fifth panzer army.This attack was the most bloodiest attack during Battle of Bulge.

The official U.S. Army history states: "At least seven thousand [men] were lost here and the figure probably is closer to eight or nine thousand. The amount lost in arms and equipment, of course, was very substantial. The Schnee Eifel battle, therefore, represents the most serious reverse suffered by American arms during the operations of 194445 in the European theater."

OPERATION GREIF AND OPERATION WAHRUNG

For Operation Greif, Otto Skorzeny successfully infiltrated a small part of his battalion of English-speaking Germans disguised in American uniforms behind the Allied lines. General Dwight Eisenhower as "Krautsspeaking perfect Englishraising hell, cutting wires, turning road signs around, spooking whole divisions, and shoving a bulge into our defenses."

ATTACK IN THE SOUTH In this operation the most important point was Bastogne.Germans surrounded Bastogne and cut all of its supply lines.Allied forces had lack of ammunition medic food.By 22 december artillery ammunition was reduced to 10 rounds per piece per day.

ALLIED COUNTEROFFENSIVEON 23 december weather conditions started to improve allowing Allied Air Forces to attack.Allied started to massive air offensive and they was able to airdrop supplies.
