Infrasound covers sounds below 20 Hz down to 0.001 Hz.

Sound is within the range of human hearing which is normally limited to frequencies between 20 Hz and 20 000 Hz (20 KHz). The Frequencer™ operates at frequencies between 20-65 Hz.

Ultrasound covers frequencies greater than the upper limit of human hearing. The most well known application is its use in sonography and echography. Muscles, tendons, breast and neonatal brain are imaged at frequencies in the millions of Hz (7-18 MHz).

Basic knowledge on acoustics1. Acoustics is the study of sound, ultrasound and infrasound.

2. An interesting study was performed at the Université de Paris that assessed the depth to which mechanical and acoustical waves could travel into the chest cavity. The study revealed that mechanical waves cause strong surface effects but diminish rapidly with distance travelled into the chest, while acoustical waves are weaker on the surface, but diminish little with distance.

3. A great feature of sound is the body’s tendency to absorb more energy at a frequency that matches its own natural frequency of vibration (its resonant frequency) than it does at other frequencies.

A body will easily vibrate at this frequency and vibrate less strongly at other frequencies.

In fact, it filters out all frequencies other than its own resonant frequency.

4. In a 2002 U.S. Department of Commerce study, the human lung resonant frequency was determined to be in the range of 40-42 Hz. Like with the pipe organ analogy, where smaller, shorter pipes play higher sounds, the resonant frequency of smaller passages and those clogged with mucus is higher than the primary chest resonance, since their diameter and length is smaller, and their stiffness is higher.

The Frequencer™ can easily be set at specific frequencies ranging from 20 Hz to 65 Hz to match airway resonant frequency.

The HFCWO mechanical air compressors operate at around 12-16 Hz.

CPT is rarely more than 3-4 Hz (or claps per second).

(1)The Hertz (symbol: Hz) is a unit of frequency. It is defined as the number of cycles per second.

For hospital and home settings1. Easy set up

Can be used throughout the hospital (ICU, adult, paediatrics, nursery...)

No fitting or moving the patient

Ideal when faced with special patient conditions (obese, G-tube, trauma, ...)

Treatment on one side only

More autonomy for patient at home

2.Efficient No limit to number of treatments per day or per patient

Assurance of quality treatment every time and for entire treatment duration

Four sizes of adapters to optimise treatment on patients of all ages

Smallest 1” adapter can be ordered with 72” flexible hose for easier treatment

3.Gentle Provide considerably lower forces than applied during Conventional Chest Physiotherapy (CCPT)

With such a gentle treatment, a patient already weakened by his condition can clear his lungs

2-3 times a day

4.Targeted The Frequencer™ uses a transducer to concentrate acoustic waves in the chest and target

more effectively specific areas of the lungs

It makes it possible to treat certain areas more often and for longer periods of time while

reducing treatment time on less affected areas

5.Added protection No danger of injury to caregiver (shoulder, elbow, wrist…)

With permanent adapters for home use (V2) or disposable adapters with filter to reduce

risk of infections in hospitals (V2x)

6.Quiet Will not interfere with other patients’ activities when sharing a room

Only emits 65 dB (sound of human laughter)

The FrequencerTM is easy to operate

START/PAUSE button to begin treatment

or suspend temporarily

Frequency level indicator from 20 to 65 Hz

Suggested levels oftreatment intensity for

patients of variousages and sizes

Slide button to rapidlyraise or lowerfrequency level

6 suggested chest treatment areas3 minutes each

A transducer targets treatment in specific areas of the lungs

The control unit generates acoustic waves at different frequency levels and treatment intensities

V2 home version comes with foam padded carrying case with rollers for storage and easy transportation

V2x version for hospital comes with a fixation plate underneath to affix on a roll stand
