Product markings denote the products and services assigned to a brand.Product markings are not designed logos. Their use is optional.

They are typeset as lettering in the DB Type font and only together with a divisionbrand. Their exact placement is determined by the standards of the medium inquestion.

For placement within a limited space, a combination of marking and divisionbrand has been provided as a positioning variant.

DB Schenker product names Product names are special designations for ‘complete services,’ i.e.comprehensive solutions for customers. At a glance:Product markings

Markings are always assigned toa brand and never used alone.Their placement depends on themedium used.

Markings are typeset in the fontDB Sans Alternate Bold Italic (1). Forapplication in the office, use DB OfficeBold Italic (2) for the marking.

Size relations

When the marking is placed next to the logo, spacing from the logo is at least 1 DBx.

The size of a marking is strictlydetermined by the size of the logo(measured according to theDB brand).Two sizes have been defined.

Standard size (1)The cap height (CH) of the markingequals 1/3 DBx. This applies e.g. toprint media, electronic media and officecommunication.

Long distance size (2) The cap height of the marking is thesame height as the DB brand. Thisapplies e.g. to signs on buildings andcustomer centers.

Note on readability: Make sure that markings are always clearly legible.It may be necessary to depict a marking proportionally larger when usingsmall logo sizes, e.g. on online banners and mobile ads.

Colors

Markings are in DB Gray or Negative White. For monochromeapplications, use 100% Black instead of DB Gray.

Rule for long markings

If the available space is insufficient forplacing the marking in standard size, itis either scaled down or placed in twolines.

Print media example:The DB corner element has aleft-justified minimum spacingof 1½ DBx.The right-justified spacing and corneroffset of the marking equals ½ DBx.The space available in the base areais maximally exploited and the markingreduced accordingly.

Electronic media example:For the placement in the logoclearspace the following rule applies:

Placement: two lines, shares thebottom baseline with ‘DB brand’

Cap height: 1/4 DBx

Line spacing: 120%(rounded to whole pixel)

Building signage

Signs on BuildingsLong distance effect (e.g. roof signs)Because they are visible from adistance and help people find theirway, markings are depictedproportionately larger on outdoor signson buildings (1). The size rule for long-distance effect applies:

Cap height (CH) = height of DBbrand

Orientation systemsSign dimensions determine placementof markings on signs (2). In generalthey are placed in the lower right-handcorner or on the same line with themarking lettering. Standard sizeapplies:

Cap height (CH) = 1/3 DBx

On narrow vertical formats such ascolumns (3), markings are placed left-justified beneath the logo according tothe ‘marking with division logo’ variant.

Orientation Systems, Signage

Markings on flagsIf more than one flagpole is available,the division logo and marking aredisplayed separately one oneflag each (4). Standard size applies:

Cap height (CH) = 1/3 DBx

When only one flagpole is used, thedivision logo and marking are placedtogether on the flag according to the‘marking with division logo’ variant (5).

On letterheads, markings are placedat the top right (1) on a line with thelogo lettering, and at the bottom lefton business cards (2).

Rules for long markings on businesscards: The marking is, at most, as wideas the maximal width of the left-handtext column and is either reduced ordisplayed on two lines, as needed.

Note on the Land Transport, Air andOcean Freight and Contract LogisticsDivision: On letterheads of companiesthat use both supplementaryidentification and a marking, use onlyone of these supplements.

The combination of a marking anda brand is not a standard logo.It is used only as a compact variantwhen little space is available forplacing the brand and marking—e.g.on advertising media, stamps,timetables, and media of outsidecompanies.

The marking is placed with 1/4 DBxspacing either right- or left-justifiedunder the division brand.The cap height (CH) of the markingequals 1/3 DBx.

Stamps

Receipt stamps (1), company stamps (2) and postal stamps (3) are markedin the upper left-hand corner with a left-justified combination of the markingand division brand.
