MASSIMILIANO ORAZI photographs scenes that reveal aesthetic values while utilizing minimal

technical elements. “Aesthetic values” refer to the ability of the work to visually communicate a

message, specifically Orazi’s personal emotions. The pictorial language of photography allows the

artist to express his ideas of “the essential.”

MASSIMILIANO ORAZI vuole rappresentare l’idea di una fotografia quanto più povera di valori tecnici

e quanto più portatrice di valori estetici: quando parliamo di “valore estetico”, ci riferiamo alla

capacità che l’opera ha di farci conoscere qualcosa attraverso i sensi. Questo è il punto di arrivo

dell’artista: farci conoscere attraverso la sua opera l’emozione che il suo sguardo ha colto solo

attraverso la sua esteriorità, la sua espressione; attraverso, appunto, il suo “valore espressivo”.

Questo perché il “valore estetico” di un’opera è la sua capacità di trasmettere emozioni e idee

attraverso la sua esteriorità, e il “valore espressivo” è la conformazione di questa esteriorità.

Over 25 black and white photos by Massimiliano Orazi will reach

the public for the first time at the photo exhibition Bare to be held

at Ganzo Gallery Restaurant.

This exhibition will showcase a series of suggestive images taken

from 2002 to 2015. Orazi is excited to reveal the striking quality of

landscapes throughout Italy, including images from the streets of

Venice to the coast of Comacchio. Orazi’s intentional compositions

suggest a human presence but rarely reveal an explicit figure. He

focuses on linear elements in nature using a minimal amount of

technical equipment.

My intention is mainly concerned with aesthetics. For instance,

I selected a single source of light during shooting. Making a

choice while keeping it as minimal as possible – this is what the

theme Bare is about, Orazi states. His simple and monochromatic

photographic style allows him to take out from the camera as much

as (he) can take from it.

Massimiliano Orazi was born in Fermo, central Italy, in 1968 and

became interested in photography at age 16. While he initially

worked with film photography, Orazi has since shifted to digital

processes. He is a self-taught photographer, but received a Masters

degree in Architecture from the University of Florence. Orazi is

currently living in Florence as a freelance teacher of photography,

engineering, and science. He has been living in different parts

of Italy and remains passionate about photography and writing.

GANZO, il ristorante scuola e laboratorio didattico creativo

di Florence University of the Arts, continua il suo programma

espositivo ed ospita la mostra fotografica di Massimiliano Orazi.

Sono più di 25 fotografie, tutte in bianco e nero, nelle quali viene

colto “l’essenziale”. Troveremo solo la sostanza nelle immagini,

niente di accessorio o superfluo e proprio da questo ne deriva la

loro suggestione quasi magica.

Orazi ci rivela una qualità sorprendente di paesaggi in tutta Italia,

composizioni intenzionali che potrebbero anche suggerire una

presenza umana, ma raramente rivelano una figura esplicita.

Si concentra su elementi lineari in natura utilizzando una quantità

minima di attrezzature tecniche.

Si interessa soprattutto all’estetica e ne sa cogliere emozioni.

Anche selezionando una sola fonte di luce durante le riprese riesce

perseguire con il minimo possibile fotografie colme di di emozioni.

Il suo stile fotografico semplice e monocromatico gli permette di

estrarre dalla telecamera tanto quanto lui sa che può prendere da essa.

Massimiliano Orazi è nato nel 1968 a Fermo nelle Marche.

Ha vissuto in molti luoghi italiani , ma attualmente vive a Firenze.

Si interessa di fotografia dall’età di 16 anni.

È fotografo autodidatta. Laureato in Architettura presso l’Università

di Firenze, è freelance nel settore fotografico e ingegneristico.

Oltrechè di fotografia è grande appassionato di scrittura.

Ganzo is a creative learning lab and the school restaurant of Apicius International School of Hospitality. It is a part of the school and

represents the institution’s approach to experiential learning. At Ganzo, students and supervising faculty create high quality, versatile, and

both traditional and innovative menus. The wine list proudly features wines from the cantinas of the Apicius Friends initiative represented

by producers officially affiliated with the institution. Apicius School of Food and Wine Studies as well as Hospitality students and faculty

oversee the daily operations of Ganzo as part of their academic coursework. Principles and practical applications of front/back of the house

management, professional restaurant preparation, professional beverage management, and customer relations are practiced through

experiential learning during their academic program of study. Ganzo reading room and art gallery. Interested artists have the chance to exhibit

their work within Ganzo’s spaces, and the revolving calendar of personal exhibitions generate a continuous renewal of the arts and culture.

Ganzo è il laboratorio didattico creativo, il ristorante-scuola della prima scuola internazionale di Ospitalità, Apicius. E’ parte integrante

del percorso formativo adottato da Apicius che intende far avvicinare i propri studenti ad un apprendimento che non sia solo

teorico, ma anche esperenziale. A Ganzo gli studenti seguiti dalla supervisone dei loro professori sperimentano la preparazione

di piatti di alta cucina che vanno dai menù tradizionali ai menù più innovativi e internazionali. I vini sono tutti provenienti dalle

cantine dei produttori Amici di Apicius. Apicius, non solo scuola di enogastronomia, ma anche di ospitalità intesa in senso

globale supervisiona tutta l’attività di Ganzo e ne fa parte integrante del percorso accademico dei propri studenti: preparazione

delle vivande, scelta dei vini, apparecchiatura, gestione del ristorante, relazioni con i clienti. Ganzo è anche una sala di lettura

e una Galleria d’arte. Innumerevoli artisti hanno la possibilità di esporre le proprie opere in occasione di aperiArt ogni mese, il

mercoledì: un pubblico internazionale li accoglie e permette agli studenti di Fua di avvicinarsi sempre di più al cultura italiana.
