Description:The Banks Property Stream Restoration project was substantially completed on November 7, 2014. The project consisted of restoring approximately 1,150 linear feet of highly degraded and partially piped tributary of Dogue Creek using natural channel design techniques.
Project Overview:• Establishment of new and stable channel geometry
• Reconnection of the channel with its floodplain by raising the stream bed
• Stabilization of the stream bed and banks, reduction of erosion through the installation of various in-stream structures to include: Rock Sills, Riffles, Modified Cross-Vanes and a Plunge Pool
• Daylight the piped sections of the channel and provided a stream crossing for maintenance access
• Restoration of the site with native trees, herbaceous plants, and grasses
• Reduction of 395 lbs of total nitrogen per year, 32 lbs of total phosphorus per year, and 6 tons of sediment per year
