TRAVELLING TO BANGOR BY ROADFrom the South/North/East England: In most cases, the fastest route to Bangor is theA55 expressway along the north Wales coast.

From West Wales: Follow the A487 via Porthmadog andCaernarfon to Bangor.

From South Wales: Follow the A49 through Hereford, Leominsterand Shrewsbury, then follow Wrexham andChester signs to the A55.

TRAVELLING TO BANGOR BY TRAINBangor is on the main line to Holyhead and isserved by direct trains from London Euston(around 3.5 hours travelling time), Manchester(around 2.5 hours travelling time),Birmingham (around 3 hours travelling time)and Cardiff (around 4 hours travelling time).Bangor train station is a short walk from mostof the University buildings.

GETTING TO THEUNIVERSITYFrom the A55/A5: Leave the A55 at Junction11, sign-posted Bangor and Prifysgol/University, and follow signs for Bangor andthe city-centre. After around 3.5 miles, youwill enter the city centre along Garth Road asshown on the main map on page 4. Pleaseuse the main map and key on page 4 tolocate the particular building you wish tovisit.

From the A487: At the A487/A4087roundabout, take the 2nd exit off theroundabout sign-posted Holyhead,Betws-y-Coed and Conwy (ignore signsfor Bangor at this point). Follow the A487up the hill and at the next roundabouttake the 3rd exit sign-posted Bangor andConwy. Keep in the left lane and at thenext roundabout take the 2nd exit sign-posted Bangor. At the next roundabouttake the 2nd exit sign-posted Bangor(A5). This will bring you into Bangoralong Holyhead Road as shown on themain map on page 4. Please use themain map and key on page 4 to locate theparticular building you wish to visit.

From Ireland/Holyhead: On leaving theferry terminal at Holyhead, turn rightfollowing the signs for Bangor (A55).Travel for around 21 miles on the A55and over the Britannia Bridge. Leave theA55 at Junction 9, sign-posted Bangorand Prifysgol/University. At theroundabout, take the 1st exit for Bangor(A487). At the next roundabout, take the2nd exit for Bangor (A5). This will bringyou into Bangor along Holyhead Road asshown on the main map on page 4.Please use the main map and key onpage 4 to locate the particular buildingyou wish to visit.

GETTING TO THE SCHOOLOF OCEAN SCIENCESFrom Bangor city centre: Continue out ofBangor along Holyhead Road (shown onmain map overleaf) and follow signs forMenai Bridge. Cross the Menai Strait on thesuspension bridge and take the second exitat the roundabout sign-posted Town-centre.Continue along this road passing theVictoria Hotel on your right. Continue alongthis road and take the right turningimmediately after the Bulkley Arms pub intothe public car park. The School of OceanSciences can be reached by walking fromthe car park exit situated at the far end andturning right onto Askew Street (shown onthe map on the right). Please use the mapon page 6 and the key on page 4 to locatethe particular building you wish to visit.

From A487: At the A487/A4087 roundabout, takethe 2nd exit off the roundabout sign-postedHolyhead, Betws-y-Coed and Conwy. Please use the map onpage 6 and the key on page 4 to locate theparticular building you wish to visit.

GETTING TO THE NORMAL SITEFrom Bangor city centre: Continue alongGarth Road and follow the one-way systemon to Holyhead Road (shown on main mapon page 4). Continue along Holyhead Road(A5) for around 1.5 miles and after passingthrough the mini-roundabout turn right(using the filter lane) into the Normal Site.Please use the map on page 8 and the keyon the main map on page 4 to locate theparticular building you wish to visit.

GETTING TO THE WREXHAM CAMPUSSome School of Healthcare Sciences courses (including Radiography) and The NorthWales Centre for Primary Care Research are at the Wrexham campus:

From the A483 bypass, take the turn-off sign-posted Wrexham & Mold. At the firstroundabout, take the exit marked Town Centre, and then at the second roundabout, take the right-hand exit (sign-posted Wrexham Technology Park and Hospital). Continueto follow signs for Wrexham Technology Park and Hospital. At the second roundabout,take the 2nd exit and follow the road round to the left to the car parks.
