Mango is the most important fruit covering about 35 per cent of area and accounting of 22 per cent total production of total fruits in the country. Banana comes next in rank occupying about 13 per cent of the total area and accounting for about 34.2 per cent of the total production of fruits. India has first position in the world in banana production. India grows the most bananas, but is not a large exporter. Most of their bananas are used right in India.
