INTRODUCTIONoEkta J Kapoor, born on the 7th June, 1975, is the creative head of Balaji Telefilms.

oEkta Kapoor is the daughter of Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor and the sister of Tusshar Kapoor who is also a Bollywood actor.

o She did her schooling at Bombay Scottish School, Mahim and attended college at Mithibai College.

oEkta Kapoor started her career at an early age of seventeen.

oShe tried her luck attending the shoots of Kailash Surendranath, the ad and feature filmmaker - but failed.

oThen with the advice and financial help of her father Ekta started off with her own business of TV-serial production by the name of Balaji Creations.

oShe made six pilots and three episodes but to her bad luck all of them were rejected.

oAfter great hard work she became successful in creating the serial Hum Paanch .

oEkta Kapoor has produced and co-produced many soap operas, television series and films.

oHer most popular television endeavor has been Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which started airing on STAR Plus in the year 2000.

oShe has produced more than eight television soaps for STAR Plus.

oOne of the most noticeable things about her creations is that all her soaps begin with the letter "K" as she is superstitious that it brings her good luck.

oSome of her other famous soaps aired on star plus are: Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii Karam Apnaa Apnaa Kasamh Se Kasautii Zindagii Kay

oIn the short span of her career this young entrepreneur of India has achieved many wards and civic honors.

oShe was chosen to lead the Confederation of Indian Industries' (CII) entertainment committee.

oIn the last few years she has also bagged the Indian Telly Awards. The other awards she received are:

The Society Achiever Award The Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2001 The 6th Indian Telly Awards 2006 .

oShe branched out into Bollywood movie production in 2001 beginning with Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta.

oKucch To Hai and Krishna Cottage based on supernatural themes followed in 2003 and 2004.

o. Kyaa Kool Hai Hum starring her brother Tusshar Kapoor proved to be her breakout hit and went on to become one of the highest earners of 2005.

oShe then went on to co-produce Shootout at Lokhandwala with Sanjay Gupta which became her a profitable venture at the box office.

oMission Istanbul and EMI – Liya Hai Toh Chukana Parega in collaboration with Sunil Shetty followed.

oThe years 2010 and 2011 proved to be important for her with critical and commercial successes such as Love Sex aur Dhokha, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Shor in the City, Ragini MMS.

o2012 had been a great year for Ekta Kapoor, with a big success of her movie “the Dirty Picture”, Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum and new hit serials like “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain”, “Kya Huaa Tera Vaada” and “Pavitra Rishta”.

oHer upcoming productions include Lootera, Shootout at Wadala, Once Upon a Time Again, Ek Thi Daayan, Gippie, Milan Talkies & Ragini MMS 2.
