BAIO® System

__________________________________________________________
Flangeless and Restraint Coupling System for Valves and Fittings For decades, flangeless components have been used for pipes and pipe fittings of buried supply lines because this coupling system affords technical and economic advantages over flanged connections. These benefits can be applied without qualification to connections between pipelines, valves and fittings, themselves.
The BAIO® flangeless coupling system was developed to save work, time and costs. Valves and pipe fittings are connected via a push-fit stab coupling that provides full circumferential restraint and bends up to 3° for each connection – with less effort required. All internal and external ends of the coupling are coated with fluidized bed epoxy powder paint with a minimum thickness of 10 Mils (250 microns). This coating extends the life of each connection for decades.
The technical advantages of the BAIO® System are the possibility of bend up 3° each connection, the comprehensive corrosion protection and the simple and quick installation.
The BAIO® flangeless coupling system provides efficient installation of valves and fittings. Installation times established in practice show that the BAIO® system requires only one-third of the time required for a flanged connection. Also, there are potential cost savings because fewer components are required for each connection thereby reducing inventory carrying costs.
Valves and fittings utilizing the BAIO® System are designed for use in both potable water and sewage pipeline networks as well as for natural gas pipelines.

… what happened in the past?
All BAIO® System valves and fittings are completely coated with epoxy powder. Hence blank spots of iron are nonexistent. Consequently there is no surface that can corrode.
Example of assembling:
Unlike the flange system the BAIO® System goes without any bolts, nuts or washers.
In this example, the conventional flange system requires 307 single parts in total. Accordingly the assembling time for all these parts accounts for about 2 hours.

The BAIO® System goes with only 5 parts, which reduces the assembling time to barely 12 minutes.
How to connect BAIO®-socket and pipe?

Features:
• Provides easy, time-saving and efficient installation
• Ductile Iron (GJS-400) construction
• Fewer components and couplings are required
• Safe coupling technology for pressures up to 250 PSI (17.2 Bar)
• Push-fit connection permits bend up of 3° to all sides
• Removes mechanical stress in the system
• Lower total weights
• Lower inventory carrying costs
• Universal application for cast iron, steel, stainless steel, PE, PVC and AC pipes
• High quality corrosion protection through fluidized bed epoxy powder coating
• 5-Year Limited Warranty (warranty details available upon request)
Current Expense Situation:
In fact, excavation costs, assembling of the armatures and piping, compression tests, filling, compaction and installation of the blacktop account by far for the biggest part of expenses.
By comparison, armatures, fittings and pipes are the smaller expense factors.

The Hawle philosophy is, that not cheaper pipes and armatures save money in the long run, but rather the use of quality parts, which help to reduce the excavation costs by minimizing the assebly times and a higher time in use.
By using inferior quality of pipes and armatures the need for further excavation work will occur sooner and the costs will skyrocket.
Cheap pipes, armatures and fittings of inferior quality might be cheap for the short term. However the expenses will rise significantly in the following years, as the entire pipe system has to be reconstructed already after 10 to 15 years, instead of 50 or more years, which is the case for hight quality pipes and armatures. Therefore one should think in the long run and choose armatures and fittings that are expensive at first glance, but those which can be used for many years.
The chart shows that if you even save 30 per cent of the purchase price for armatures, these savings will still be lower than a 10 per cent reduction of costs for excavation. The BAIO® System allows a quicker installation of armatures and fittings, which leads to lower excavation expenses and outweigh the highter purchase price by far.
