Music Curriculum
• Will be using the MENC (www.menc.org) core curriculum standards to generate fruitful classroom activites and assessment
• Will be using New Jersey Core Curriculum standards
for pedagogical curriculum • Will also integrate the New Jersey Technology
standards in the classroom using different sources of music technology for students to explore http://eamir.org/
Juxtaposition of Music and Technology• Using the "Finale 2010" program
• Using eamir.org to explore interface programs that
connect with 21st century skills and interests of students!
• Establishing knowledge of "Garage band" program
• Exploring recording devices
Music Technology continued...
• By mixing music and technology, students will get to explore many different angles of music education
• This intern will help students connect with other
technological skills and life skills that they will face in other subject areas
• They will be able to transfer their technology skills
smoothly and keep up with the forever growing technology in the world
• And, they will be learning in a fun and creative way
to use technology!
Music Tech Program uses
Finale 2010 • Composition• Arranging • Media presentations • Notating music • Editing musical scores,
etc
EAMIR.org• Using games like"Guitar
Hero," "DDR," and other games that connect to a MAC comp. to create unique musical creations
• Create different interfaces for chords, harmonies and different tonal musical expressions with out physical or technical limitations
More Music Tech Programs...
Garage Band • MAC or PC accessable
program that enables students to learn, play, create, jam, or record music
Recording Devices ex. "EdiRol"• Students will be
knowledgeable with recording devices to record themselves playing their instrument and record groups or ensembles
• They will be able to generate mp3, CD, and other audio sounds for other students
Activities!!!!
• With music theory and basic composition skills I will teach the students, they will generate their own compositions
• After they have created a simple composition for a few instruments/students they will arrange the music on "Finale" for specific instruments (like flute, trumpet etc)
• They will produce copies of their arrangement for a group of students and play for the class
• Other groups will be in charge of recording these small musical concerts and producing a CD from it
• Other students can add virual acoustics or electronic beats to the compostion, etc by exploring "Garage Band" or even "EAMIR"
In Conclusion
• Many new devices and skills are driven and function through technology.
• These different programs will support the creative music making process and enable students to find more connections to today's "technological world"
• All of these programs are assessable to students, parents, faculty, and more so please feel free to explore them and ask me any questions!
