The Great Debate Project

One of the topics your children will be learning about in my class is the American Revolution. Using strand 8.1.8.A.3, I have designed a project to incorporate Social Studies standards and technological skills .

•The class will be split into two groups (Loyalists and Patriots).

•The students will then work on a multimedia presentation (example: power point) to aid in the presentation of their argument. A brief paper will be completed summarizing their key facts.

•Each group will research their topics using online databases and books to come up with a strong argument with historic facts and documents in support of their assigned party.

The Great Debate Project- Continued

• The goal of this project is to make a convincing argument to me as to which party I should sign allegiance with if we were to travel back in time to the days leading up to the Revolution.

The team that wins the debate will receive one extra point on their

final grade!
