    MY OPINION W

HETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOTINTERESTS

Jill Conner Browne is a multiple #1 New York Times Best Seller. Simon & Schuster published her latest book American Thighs: The Sweet Potato Queens Guide to Preserving Your Assets. She is featured regularly in national and international magazines and television shows. You can learn more about Her Royal Highness at sweetpotatoqueens.com.

As the mercury soars above the 90- and 100-degree marks, most folks think of porch sitting, watermelon eating, and/or mouth-breathing, but here at Coochie Sprangs, our thoughts

turn to AQUA-SKIPPING.What, you might understandably query, is this

aqua-skipping? Dont feel bad wed never heard of it either, but I do take total credit for introducing it to Lake Caroline, if not the entire state of Mississippi. Fathers Day rolled around a few years ago, as it is wont to do each and every year, and some weeks prior, I found myself, as I am wont to do, sitting on a plane on a tarmac, reading the SkyMall catalog for want of anything better to do to kill time as I wait interminably for a plane containing myself to finally take off, and there it was on the page before me the Aqua Skipper. Naturally, I immediately thought of The Cutest Boy in the World, my wonderful husband and fabulous stepfather to my only precious daughter.

The photo showed what appeared to be a guy on the back of a giant metal mosquito and the caption said, Why just walk on water when you can skip? Why, indeed? Color me sold. I believe I placed a phone order on the spot from the plane on the tarmac and it arrived just in time to be one of THE best gifts E-VER for Fathers Day at least for TCBITW.

Dont get me wrong: I am not hereby recommending that you rush out and order one for the guy in your life unless he is a complete and total intrepid outdoor athletic MACHINE, like my guy. Although if you Google aquaskipper, and watch the video, you will prolly be tempted, because it LOOKS really easy and hilarious winning combo, of course.

But once you get it put together (not easy), you will find that the implementation of it is likewise

not easy (impossible) although it is, for a fact, hilarious. Even the too-many-to-

count failed attempts at aqua-skipping are certifiably-hysterical, but once it is mastered, you will bust a gut laughing as you watch. The thing is a hydrofoil, and it does, in fact, skip over the top

of the water like a big giant skeeter when operated correctly. So far, though, not one single person other

than TCBITW has managed to skip over even a single ripple in the lake. Many have tried much to my enormous porch-bound, under-the-ceiling fan enjoyment, I might add but literally ALL have failed.

The funniest thing about it is NOT actually the sight of TCBITW, with his extremely bowed legs, hopping across the water like a large biting insect. No, its all the people in boats trying to pretend like they DONT NOTICE HIM like, oh, HERES something we see all day, every day! BWAHAHAHA!

Table Mesa Youve not tasted fine Latin-fusion cuisine until you visit Table Mesa. This wonderful bistro often has a wait its well worth every minute. Stay for din-ner or stop in for drinks and appetizers. We were wowed by the Avocado con Cangrejo, fresh Maryland blue crab was served in a grilled avocado with field greens and chipotle mayo. The ceviche features a raspberry sauce, lending it color and cutting the acidity just so. Not a fan of queso, I was pleasantly impressed with the combination of moz-zarella and goat cheeses with a hint of what owner Carl Garrett later revealed as pineapple pepper jelly a mixture good enough to swim in. Table Mesa home to incredible entrees served with an appreciation of culinary taste and beauty. ::: 108 E. Central Ave. Ste. 10 (479) 715-6706 tablesmesabistro.com ::: $$
