AVATA Upgrade Methodology

Specialized by Oracle Preferred by CustomersRecognized by Industry

Business Application Language (BAL)• Upgrade utility that can be used when upgrading to a newer Demantra version as well as migrate

objects such as worksheets, series, and workflows between two schemas / environments (added in 12.2.1)

› BAL compares the customer schema with the Demantra ‘Golden’ schema of the new release and highlights the differences and overlaps between objects (Levels, Series, Worksheets, etc.) and provides an upgrade package to upgrade to the new release

› Automatic mode and manual mode

Worked closely with Oracle development on the processes, challenges and solution

AVATA was the first company to utilize the BAL tool for an upgrade!!

Upgrade OptionsPlatform Upgrade• The platform upgrade suits most upgrade scenarios, so by default this is the preferred upgrade

path you should take

• The platform upgrade updates the platform capabilities to the latest version…latest capabilities of the web UI, application server, latest engine, worksheets/series, and latest database procedures.

› Typically if a new feature does not require new series, worksheets or workflows it is wholly encompassed in a platform upgrade.

• Customers on versions prior to 7.1.1 have to chose this option

› Versions 7.2 and lower or running on SQL server, client may need to think about re-deploying versus upgrade

• Customers with major customizations (like rebuilding the data model) to the out-of-the-box schema, have to chose this option

[email protected]

Upgrade OptionsPlatform + Application Upgrade

• You have a standard configured application that is not highly customized and you want to include the latest release of the new series, workflows, and worksheets.

• For example a PTP customer may want to use the application upgrade to embed the new seeded out of the box promotion calendar.

• You want to add and use a new pre-configured module. Example: You are on DM / PTP and would like to upgrade to a newer version as well as add TPO to an existing PTP solution or add SPF to your existing DM solution.

• Adding a module while staying on your same Demantra version. Example: A 7.3.1.5 DM customer may want to add the IMCDP application to their solution, and thus would perform a platform and application upgrade to 7.3.1.5 IMCDP application.

Hidden Gem• There have been many engine enhancements over the years! • Vast majority of Demantra installs have not gone through an engine tuning

exercise!!!› Based on industry studies: A one-percent decrease in forecast error

translates into a 0.5% decrease in safety stock inventory.”› AVATA’s average forecast error improvement ranges from 8% - 16%

• Free Engine Tuning Assessment!› No risk to customer › Estimate forecast improvement potential

“Through their expertise in Demantra, we’re now at 99% case fill rates, inventories are low, sales the highest they’ve been. We’re succeeding, and a large part of that is due to the people AVATA has brought to help solve real world problems for us.”

AVATA Customer Testimonials Here

What our Customers are Saying

“The AVATA team was an integral part of our Demantra upgrade and provided the technical expertise lacking within our own DBA’s and end users. The AVATA team worked around with our teams in US and India to provide technical assistance to the upgrade and pointed out flaws in the design and maintenance of our Demantra. We got all “A” players!”
