Wide aisle rackingAdjustable beam racking is the most widely used of pallet storage systems and allows direct access to each pallet. By selecting from a wide range of sizes and duties for standard frame uprights and beams, Avanta racking can be configured to meet precise criteria in terms of load volume and weight, accessibility, handling requirements and space utilisation.
By allowing fork lift trucks to operate in aisles up to half the width required in conventional pallet racking, Narrow aisle racking makes excellent use of floor space and maximises the height at which goods can be stacked.

High DensityStorageEffectively utilising floor and cubic space, dynamic Push-back racking is amongst the most space and time-efficient pallet storage systems available.
Pallets are loaded in sequence onto wheeled carriers of differing heights and are pushed back along inclined steel guide channels to utilise the full depth of the racking.
Drive-in racking provides a highly space-efficient solution to the storage and throughput of palletised goods.
By dispensing with access aisles drive-in racking provides a high-density of storage in a given area to increase capacity by some 60-80% over conventional ‘aisle’ racking.

A variant on standard adjustable beam racking, Double-deep, as the name implies, allows pallets to be stored two deep but still accessible from the same aisle. Safe cost effectivepallet racking solutions
DynamicStoragePallet live racking provides high levels of storage density in a given area.
Pallets are loaded onto dedicated lanes of inclined gravity rollers which are set at a fixed gradient. When a load is taken from the picking face, the next pallet rolls into position, with replenishment stock loaded at the opposite (upper) end of the lane.
Carton live storage or ‘flow racking’ operates on the same principle as pallet live storage, but is used for stock which needs to be hand-loaded and picked.
Pallet shuttle systems from Avanta UK, offer a deep lane storage and retrieval system. It is a carrier used to move pallets within a specifically designed racking structure.

Specialist RackingWhilst providing the ideal means of storing palletised loads, the versatility of the racking system means large, bulky or simply awkward to store items can be accommodated.
Cantilever racking is ideal for storing long items such as packs of timber or steel pipes. Columns are punched on both sides as standard, allowing use as single-sided and double-sided racks.
Vertical racking can be used for the vertical storage of long items. The arms are used as dividers providing stability to the product and can be adjusted horizontally.
Coil racking is designed for the storage of material on reels or drums (often electrical cable).

Racking inspections complywith health & safety
Inspections & RepairsInsurers and Health & Safety Inspectors normally insist on an inspection every 12 months and it is recommended that an inspection is carried out within 6 months of a racking installation.
Part of the survey includes the following checks:-
Are the uprights vertical or show signs of damage?
Brace / beam integrity
Rack signage correctly displayed?
Floor fixings and foot plates all correctly secured
Complete pallet racking repair service to all racking types in accordance with SEMA guidelines.
Load notices are supplied with all Avanta pallet racking installations in accordance with SEMA regulations.
Barrier rails have been developed to allow organisations throughout industry to protect equipment and facilities which are vulnerable to accidental fork truck damage. Wide range of sizes and styles available.

Office PartitionsKomfire partitions offer the designer a distinct angular style incorporated with the benefits of great acoustic performance and fire protection. Komfire is of steel stud and plasterboard construction surrounded by an aluminium framework and finishing trims.
Fabric coated folding partitionsAvanta offer four types of Fabric partition all manufactured in the UK. Each has a different average effective sound reduction (RwdB). The fabric is strong, durable, light fast, class ‘1’ and ‘0’ to BS 476 flame spread. The material is made from water based inks and is fully washable, mildew and mould resistant.
Uncomplicated in design, 600 Seriesoffice partitioning is slim-line with a
choice of crisp angular or softradiused profiles. Through a little

Steel lockers are antibacterial powder coated. The coating contains active silver ions that penetrate the bacteria cell walls inhibiting bacterial growth.

Our Locker systems are manufactured to the highest standards using quality components and are of a robust construction with a durable attractive finish. All mild steel lockers are finished in hygienic hard wearing anti-bacterial powder coat.
Combining robust design with a heavy gauge double skin door to guard against leverage and impact, Stronghold lockers are hard to beat when it comes to long lasting security. The heavy duty 5 knuckle hinge is welded to the door, but riveted to the frame to allow for easy replacement.

The client is one of the world’s foremost steel component manufacturers with multiple manufacturing sites across the globe. The company has achieved growth organically and through acquisition.
Avanta UK Ltd was invited into two sites in the North of England to offer solutions for two distinctly different storage issues.
Site1
This site needed to increase production and storage capacity. The client was looking at the design and feasibility of a new purpose built warehouse in order to extend the manufacturing facility into the existing warehouse. Avanta designed the new VNA racking system to give a storage capacity of 5000 plus pallets measuring 1200mm wide x 1000mm deep x up to 2020mm high.
Site 2
This site also needed to increase production and storage capacity but there was no additional space or optionto build.
To cope with increasing demand the client was having to single stack pallets on the ground in lanes.
Avanta UK suggested a Radio Shuttle Racking system to the client as the best way to deposit and retrieve pallets in a building with limited height.

Raising Hair Tools Storage CapacityWest Yorkshire based Hair Tools Ltd is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and distributors of professional hairdressing and beauty products. They contacted a number of storage equipment providers to assist with an age old storage problem.
Due to continued growth and setting higher standards of delivery lead-time Hair Tools needed to re-organise their existing warehouse set up.
Avanta UK Ltd, working closely with a leading fork lift truck manufacturer helped increase storage space within the client’s main warehouse and reconfigured a second warehouse to create a man up small box picking operation.
The solution involved reconfiguring the main warehouse to a double deep racking system, re-using existing racking and providing new. This enabled us to provide a high density man up small picking operation within the second warehouse in conjunction with new Mechanical Handling Equipment.
The project involved:-
Stripping out sections of pallet racking from a smaller warehouse and re-installing in the main warehouse.
Installing new racking in the main warehouse.
Providing a block of new drive in racking for storage and creating a collection / despatch area.
In partnership with our approved electrical supplier we designed a new energy efficient lighting system that saved the client up to 25% running costs.

Case StudiesTurnkey Storage Solution for Leading Worldwide Supply Chain SpecialistAvanta UK Ltd has completed a multi-product storage equipment fit out for a major 3rd party logistics company at their new distribution centre in Milton Keynes.
The new Milton Keynes facility will employ up to 150 staff, and will also support the client’s latest retail offering which is its Store Development Services. This helps expanding retail businesses to open stores faster with greater control and cost efficiency, and increases sales per store in new markets.
Avanta UK Ltd designed, supplied and installed the following: -
Pallet Racking – giving a capacity of 9000 pallets with rack protection.
Multi-tier Storage System – consisting of a 2 tier shelving system and mezzanine floor to store 29,000 BDC1 Boxes.
Mezzanine Floor Goods Lift to both levels.
Light & Smoke Detection – reconfiguration of high level lighting and New LED lighting to mezzanine, all on PIR sensors.
By investing in this latest facility it will reinforce the client’s position as a leading provider of logistics services in the UK and it will be a flagship operation. It will enable them to keep pace with the opportunities they are being offered by retailers and e-tailers and further demonstrate the unique choice of supply chain services.
The project was installed (including sprinklers) within 10 weeks, and involved the co-ordination and management of multiple supply partners and trades via our dedicated Project Manager appointed to the client.

The purpose of the project was to create enclosures to house a number of production machines to reduce equipment and material exposure to potential airborne contaminants. After initial discussions Avanta invited a market leading steel partitioning manufacturer to work in partnership on the project. After a handful of design meetings and a client visit to the factory, the specification and build programme was agreed.

Steel Partitioning Enclosure Project For Kodak in LeedsAvanta UK Ltd were approached by Kodak in Morley, Leeds to work with their project engineers to design, supply and install suitable enclosures to house specific machinery within their premises.
Kodak is a world leading manufacturer of lithographic printing plates and these plates need to be produced in a very sensitive environment.
The project was completed to the time set (on a specific out of hours programme) and to the financial budget.

Multi-Storage Equipment Install For Yorkshire Based Febi BilsteinFebi Bilstein is one of the world’s leading global manufacturers and suppliers of passenger car and commercial vehicle spare parts in the independent aftermarket. The facility in Featherstone, West Yorkshire was rapidly reaching capacity and as an alternative to extending the premises a considerable reorganisation project was required.
To supply and install additional pallet racking providing an additional 430 pallet spaces.
The relocation of existing pallet racking with associated alterations to anti-collapse mesh, upright protectors, barriers and decks to provide a narrow aisle operation.
To supply and install a new 400m2 fire rated mezzanine floor with a load bearing suitable for standard shelving bay loads of up to 570KG. Access via general access staircase and pallet loading gate.
The supply and installation of a 16.5m x 2m wide link walkway between the new and existing mezzanine floor.
To design, supply and build a 6 person office 7m x 6m x 2.7m high from Komfire 75 office partitioning complete with ceiling, timber veneer doors, glazed panels and carpet tiles.
The provision of all lighting including emergency lighting, smoke detection and air conditioning systems.

The main units supplied were powder coated in two specific blue colours to match corporate colours. Also there was a specific key arrangement with certain units being part of a suite of keys.
It is felt that the workshop is a first class facility in keeping with the clients ethos.

Avanta Help Elland’s Exertis Advent Rise To The ChallengeBased at a purpose built distribution centre in Elland, West Yorkshire a specialist trade only distributor had the requirement to significantly increase storage capacity.
The project included the design and installation of a two tier mezzanine;the relocation and erection of 500 bays of shelving and the supply and fitting of6300 product location labels.
Each platform of the mezzanine floor measures 710 square metres and there is a total of 260 linear metres of 1120mm high hand & knee safety rail. The finished floor levels are 4m & 7.2m with a live load of 4.8k/N per square metre. Access is via two multi-landing general access staircases and load access is via 4x up and over pallet gates and a reversible incline belt conveyor.
To give the floor a one hour fire protection (a requirement for a floor of this size) each level was fitted with a full area suspended ceiling, using fire rated tiles and galvanised vermiculux PVC faced fascia boards with fire
breaks in the floor void. Floor columns were encased in galvanised vermiculux PVC clip on casings.
Avanta UK were responsible for the full installation including compliance with Building Regulations.
Due to the nature of client’s business and shift patterns all works were carried out on an overnight and weekend basis and only took 5 weeks to complete.
