Post-Game Notes & Quotes Avalanche vs. Toronto

Thursday, November 6, 2014

• The Avalanche and Maple Leafs split the season series, with both teams going 1-0-1. • The Avs saw their streak of 29 consecutive penalty kills come to an end on Tyler Bozak’s

power-play goal…It was the club’s longest single-season streak since 1998-99, when the Avs killed off 35 straight from Oct. 31 to Nov. 17, 1998.

• Nick Holden scored the fastest goal to begin a game by an Avalanche player this season, lighting the lamp 31 seconds into the opening frame.

• Ryan O’Reilly tallied his 200th career point. • Max Talbot appeared in his 600th NHL game. • The Avalanche’s 19 shots in the first period were the club’s most in a single period this season. • Alex Tanguay scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Colorado G Reto Berra On Getting The Win Tonight: “It’s nice to have this win. It was hard at the end there on the skate and then it was a tough one, but now it’s okay, we won in a shootout. It was easy for me, we scored three out of three. Yeah, we played a really good game tonight. We deserved to win.” Colorado LW Gabriel Landeskog On The Team’s Performance In Overtime Tonight: “We certainly stuck together there and felt like there was nothing that was going to stop us tonight, even though we had a couple of tough breaks. They played well, I think. They certainly played a good road game. Second and third period, they played really well. They got that late one and we think we have that power play in overtime and they make up for that and call one on us. But I certainly think we had our chances in overtime. I think overall we played well.” On The Team’s Play Tonight: “We made some changes that we felt like were going to make our system better and we felt a lot more comfortable out there. We felt more confident and felt like we were supporting each other and backing each other up, it made a big difference. Tonight, I think [it was] just a confidence level. We were making plays and supporting each other all over the ice and [it] certainly felt like we weren’t going to be stopped tonight.” Toronto D Stephane Robidas On Playing Three-On-Three In Overtime: “It reminds me of minor hockey, you go to a tournament and then you go down to three-on-three. There’s a lot of room out there and a lot of skilled guys on the ice, it’s exciting.” On Playing With Five Defensemen: “I personally felt pretty good. Probably the best I’ve felt playing here in Colorado. All over those years usually I really feel the altitude, but for whatever reason tonight it didn’t seem to be a factor for me anyways. I can’t speak for the other guys but I felt good.” Toronto G Jonathan Bernier On Tonight’s Game: “I felt pretty good actually. They came out really hard in the first and we stuck with it and I thought it was a great effort by all of our guys to get a point there.” On Seeing Teammate Daniel Winnik Go Down: “Yeah, I actually didn’t really see the play. I just saw that he was laying down there. It’s never fun to see any guy go down like that even if it’s on the other team. But at least he’s all good.”
