RMS TitanicRMS TitanicRMS TitanicRMS Titanic This half term we will be basing
our learning around the
famous RMS Titanic. This is a
brand new topic for year 5
and we are very excited
about it.
We will be investigating how
the Titanic was built, who
sailed her, the crew and of
course the disastrous voyage!

We were really pleased with the homework that
year 5 produced on the E-zone last half term.
Literacy homework will still be sent out on a Friday
to be returned Wednesday.
Numeracy homework will also be sent out on a
Friday to be returned Wednesday.
In addition to maths and literacy homework we will be
asking children to do a ‘Creative Curriculum Project’
This is a free choice project that you can be working
on all half term. Last half term we had some amazing
WW2 projects. We are excited to see what you all
think of this half term
Creative curriculum projects: Due for presentation on/before Monday 10th December
If you have forgotten how to access the E zone there
is a reminder on your class whiteboards.
Can you find out how
many of the
passengers and crew
survived the disaster?
Can you use the
internet to find out
the names of any of
the passengers and
information about
them?
Magical maths!…
The Monteney year of numeracy has got off to a flying start, we really have all really enjoyed the games and activities in the numeracy area. This half term we will be learning about the following thing in numeracy: • Division • Fractions • Data Handling and
Graphs • And Coordinates. Remember there are lots of activities on Education city and the E zone for you to continue with your learning at home!
We really enjoyed studying poetry last half term in
our literacy lessons. We had fun with words and chuckled at the
poems by Michael Rosen. This half term we will be looking at different non-fiction texts. We will be
starting to look at recounts based on ‘Honey I shrunk the Kids’ and the ‘Titanic.’
P.E. This half term in PE we will be doing:
Tag Rugby
Gymnastics
IMPORTANT NOTE... Over the last few weeks we have noticed an increase in the number of children wanting to borrow all or part of a PE kit from children in other classes. This is beginning to become disruptive to other lessons and is unfair on the majority children who do bring and look after their kit. Please make sure that your child has the correct P.E. kit here everyday. This should include a plain white/blue T-shirt, plain black/blue shorts and black pumps.
Children CAN NOT wear the same t-shirt/shoes they wear as their school uniform. If you wish, your child can have tracksuit bottoms and trainers in their PE kit for these occasions. They do however always need pumps and plain shorts for indoor PE. Due to hall space being used for Christmas rehearsals it is likely that some of our P.E lessons will be outside. Your child can bring joggers and tracksuits jackets, or any other warm clothing for these lessons and can be kept in school with their normal P.E kit.
