WELCOME TO RE-FRESHERS’ WEEK

HELLO THERE RE-FRESHER!All students at the University of Aberdeen are welcomed and encouraged to participate in Re-Freshers’ Week 2011! Aberdeen University Students’ Association (AUSA) have organised loads of events to keep you entertained and off the streets for your first week back after the holidays and exams. On that note, we hope your exams went swimmingly!

Please use this guide as a reference for events taking place during Re-Freshers’ Week but please make note that more information and details surrounding the events will be listed on the AUSA website www.ausa.org.uk and on our facebook page - www.facebook.com/aberdeenuniversitystudentsassociation We’re trying to keep the cost of this publication down so we can spend a bit more money on events for you!

Right, back to the fun stuff! We’re using this Re-Freshers’ Week opportunity to lavish our lovely students with a scaled down but equally entertaining week of events as the bigger Freshers’ Week. You’ll notice some of our most popular events are back for your pleasure! So, what are you waiting for? Continue reading this guide and decide which events you’d like to attend!

Please note, all events listed here are correct at the time of print, but chances are we’ll be adding to them and things may change, so we highly recommend you also check out www.ausa.org.uk/whatson where any updates will be posted! We’re also on Facebook, so search for Aberdeen University Students’ Association and become our friend! Can’t wait to see you!

Love AUSA

A very warm welcome and/or welcome-back to the University of Aberdeen! My name is Robin and I am honoured, along with the other Sabbaticals to lead the Students’ Association on your behalf. Re-Freshers week is here for new students to discover what Aberdeen has to offer, but it is also an excellent chance for the rest of you to refresh your memories and hopefully have a bit of post-exams good time!

The Aberdeen University Students’ Association (AUSA) is organised by and for students, in order to represent and support you in all aspects of your student life here in Aberdeen. We really are the heart of the Student Community. You may or may not be familiar with our activities and services so here is a wee intro/reminder of what we do on campus: sports clubs, societies, student media, campaigns, volunteering, charity work, the Climate Change Project, entertainment events, class reps, Info & Advice Centre, etc... Re-Freshers’ Week is a perfect opportunity to join a new club or society, participate in a charities event, to discover what services are here for you on campus or just get involved generally with AUSA. You’ll find us in the fabulous Butchart Building so come over, hang out with a cup of Alfie’s coffee and have a chat.

Whatever you choose to do with your time here I will endeavour to make sure that AUSA has the resources to support you in doing that, so that you get the most out of your time here at the University of Aberdeen. If something is getting in the way of you having an excellent time or if you have a brilliant new idea to make campus an even better place, please get in touch and I will do my best to sort it out! We are your voice within and around

the University, so let us know what we should be saying.

Looking forward to seeing you all around,

Robin Parker [email protected]
