All that preparation...and whoosh! It’s over. Well, the holiday has passed and the New Year has been rung in and now it is our turn to have some time for ourselves.

I want to take a minute to speak to you about the up-coming class schedule. I believe that the classes offered at Aurora Sewing Center are the best deal in town. Our teachers research the latest and greatest techniques and projects in the market place and turn them into fabulous classes. The staff of ASC teachers are always on the cutting edge and strive to put our shop ahead of everyone else. In addition, the value of these classes and our Staff can’t be beat.

So now that the dust has settled, contact a friend and sign up for a class together. The next 4 months will go by quickly as you keep busy with new and exciting projects.

I have many new ideas for seminars and events for the next few months so keep an eye on those e-mails. We will notify you of these events as soon as our plans are in place.

My wish for all of the ASC family and our customers is that 2011 will find us happy, healthy and prosperous.

THE POWER OF A THREAD... Who would ever think a small piece of thread could jam a machine. I have seen one small piece of thread shut down production on multi-head machines and home machines alike. That’s why keeping spools that are not in use stored away from

main shafts, embroidery units and any other moving parts. A shaft spinning 800-1000 revolutions per minute can peel a spool clean in no time as you can see in the illustration. Thread can also get caught in the needle bar driving linkage. This can be avoided if the machine is threaded with two hands and the presser foot is in the up position. Raising the presser foot opens the tension disks on all machines allowing the thread to seat. Always check for the resistance on the thread before sewing.
