Cry of a NationThe dawn of a new day

Leads another astray

The setting of the sun

Marks a death that is done

This nation so blessed

Is now in a dreaded mess

Oh God on high!

Hear Your people's sigh!

Raizza Renella Bello

Life is traveled only once Today's moment

Become tomorrow’s memoryEnjoy every moment

Good or badHappy or sad

Because the gift of LifeIs Life itself

LifeRita De Luna, 5I

My heart will be jumpingSinging all day longDancing to a beatUntil told to stop

Letting me liveTo enjoy my time left

Reminding me to smileAnd the gift to love others

What more can I askFrom this giving heart

Pumping pure happinessFor the rest of my life

As I lie down under the shade of a coconut tree,I stare up the clouds in the sky. There are so many wonderful things to see,Way up high. There is a world seen only in dreams,Which was amazing as it seems.A land flowing in milk and honey,With angels dancing in glee.A knight in shining armor,Standing straight in total valorIn majestic places of gold,Said only in tales told.Flying cars, things that think,And beautiful flowers that can winkA place where problems are a thing of the past,Where smiles truly last. But I felt a sharp pain on the back of my head,As a coconut from the tree plummeted,Straight to the top of my body.I had return to reality.I realized that it was wrong to just lie down,While hardship from toiling was on the face of everyone in town.Of course it's good to dream,But things can't be as easy as they seem.

As we turn another page Into another age

We find ourselves in a world so strange

Peaceful angels guard and protectDemonic devils destroy and detect,Detect those who are temptedAnd those who are bad and mended,Mended to do bad, to do bad to the innocent

Light and Darkness misunderstood each otherDarkness only desired and wanted powerLight and Darkness declares warEvery soldier gets a scar

Seeing yourself painted in the mirrorDoing nothing but lots of errorThinking and planning for the next moveLike preparing yourself for a new groove

Heavenly prayers God heedsAnswering everything without thinking the negativesPurifying meals God feedsGiving us bread to make our body positivesPositive like being healthy

Kindness of one soul,Influence and teach us the right wayGiving us the importance of every bayA bay that cleanses one's soul

Good and Evil are brothersSons and Daughters of GodGood and Evil are simply friendsThey sometimes misunderstood each otherBut that's okay… because they can be united…United as the chains of togetherness

We drift into despair Discover that everyone's just so unfair

To see that we give everyone an eerie stare

But don't we recall The Son of Man's fall

To eradicate the sin of all?

As we turn another page Into this uncertain age

Let us not forget the Son of Man's carnage

To both of us, it was another blissful, meaningless dayBut that day changed our lives in a wayWhen I saw you it felt like spaceBecause a big, fat smile was stuck on your face

We were really quiet and shy at firstBut as our friendship continued to growWe acted like we've known each other since birth

We both thought that we would be together till the endTogether every smile every time, every friendUntil the day came when we were to partBut we knew our friendship won't end as it had just start

The little things you did will never fade awayAs you would always smile even though I didn't say you mayEven if you are away a thousand milesI will never forget those super sweet smiles

So… as the sun sets through the end of each dayIf I had a genie that would grant just one wish for meThen I wish that you could be here to watch it with me

Just at home and nothing to do?Go outside and see the view

Massive and darkMoon and stars

Oh, how long it has beenSince I saw the beauty I've seen

Face the dilemmasMake love and peaceStruggles of lifeThe wall of worries

Open the mindClear your voiceLook for somethingPick a good choice

Forget about mistakesOf errors and strivesLearn how to smileSurvive for life

Night

As I drift in the deepest slumberI journey with my soul's wingsTo where true desires are realizedAnd where my darkest fears haunt meIt has no borders, it is limitless, it is freeOne can possess the treasures of the worldSlay the mythical dragon and save the fair maidenFragments of joy, sorrow, regret and confusion

But yet it is also a placeWhere the Lord whispers softly and deeplyOf his undying and unconditional love for us,Offering a glimpse of heaven.

Wings of my Soul

Mark Gabriel Ordonez

Voices unheard protests on busy streets, loneliness that kills life bit by bit.Anger in the heart starts to rise, fire burning like a tiger in the eyes.

People manipulated by political clowns, garbage dumped just around.Darkness reigns on white soft clouds, dishonesty and corruption that represent the crowd.

Hunger and thirst ring a bell, mouths yearning for food in hell.Illnesses abusing lives unread, bones buried but unsaid.

People's pockets torn by selfishness, perishing a good life to the fullest.Victims trying to survive in a deep well,Prisoners longing for freedom in a cell

5th grader, Dana Alyssa J. Macarilay, brought pride and honor to her family, school and most especially to our country. She skated her way to one bronze, one silver and four gold medals in the Skate Asia 2007, an international event that features Asian skaters.

The competition took place last August 11-18 in the Olympic-sized skating rink of SM Mall of Asia. Different figure skaters from other countries in Asia competed in this 1-week event.

When asked what her key to winning is, she mentioned the many factors that contributed to her success. “I have my family and friends there to support me,” she says, “They are always there for me. And with my success goes a lot of practice. I never miss any of them even if it means sleeping late at night.”

Dana eventually got her reward for all her hard work. Imagine six medals in one competition!

After competing with 16 regions in the Philippines, Ma. Ana Jacinta L. Jocson executed her winning performance that propelled the team to win 3rd place in the Palarong Pambansa held at Koronadal City, South Cotabato last April 22-28.

For the second time in a row, the team has capped the 3rd place in the Palarong Pambansa. The first time was on 2005-2006, and the second one was on 2006-2007.

Ma. Ana Jacinta L. Jocson 7D (Captain Ball), Cheska Paulina C. Chavez 7B (member), Julia Morado 6A (member), together with other players from Manila, Makati, Muntinlupa, and Quezon City, represented NCR in the Palarong Pambansa. Mr. Rey R. Amonelo served as the Assistant Coach.

The Palarong Pambansa aims to discover potential athletes, sports development , and this helped to inspire other members of the varsity to attain the same status of the team this year.

They also experienced extreme heat under the sun that resulted to two deaths and many sicknesses. However, the team still managed to play according to plan with their advanced skills, experience, and a month and a half rigid and highly competitive training.

“I have joined the Palaro twice, which is one of the most important leagues for players like us. And reaching one of the highest place twice, I could say that I'm proud joining and winning at

least for my school, region, and especially God,” said Jocson, Captain Ball CSA Varsity Team and Best Receiver for Palarong Pambansa.

“Practice your skills in volleyball seriously and try to be part of the team. Once you're there, give your full dedication and commitment,” stressed Mr. Amonelo, Coach of the CSA Varsity Team.

The Varsity became the champions in three leagues before: ISAA against American Schools, TOBY'S against private schools, and WVL against exclusive private schools for girls.

Central Visayas became the champions and Western Visayas won 2nd

place in the P a l a r o n g Pambansa 06-07.

The GS Basketball Varsity had a rough game against the Xavier Basketball Varsity last August 11, 8 am at Xavier School in Greenhills, Mandaluyong.

Fredric M. Lucas of 7E, GS Basketball Varsity Captain Ball, led the game and was supervised by their Coach, Mr. Reynaldo Ramilo.

According to Lucas, “ The enemy was strong and we lost. But we can do better, if we face them again.”

“The opponents were bigger, taller, and better” said Mr. Ramilo.

Of Intrams and Run-away Bags

Intrams is the game we play.

Right after the last period in the

afternoon, we rush to the covered

courts, drop our uniform, wear our

intrams shirt, and start the game.

There is nothing more exciting than

playing with our classmates and

friends, and bringing glory to our

sections. After that, there are

handshakes and congratulations to

show the spirit of sportsmanship. What

a memorable experience! But wait, do

you know where your bags go? As you

are enjoying the game, your personal

belongings must have gone

somewhere. Next time, play with your

bags and strollers and ID's on!

Weaklings To Winners

Why are there only a few lucky Filipino

athletes competing in the Olympics? More than

anyone else in the world, Pinoys are martyrs and highly spirited. Who knows, we may just spot

potential athletes in our midst. Those children

swimming in the murky waters of Pasig River could

become world renowned swimmers . Those poor

children walking for kilometers barefooted on the

way to school might win the track and field division,

and the like. The face of poverty might bring us

surprises beyond our wildest imagination. After all, poverty seem to abound these days!

From Bums to Boxers

The Philippines has become

well- known because of boxing. As

you can see, the Filipino boxers

can overpower their foreign foes owing to their sheer strength,

courage, and determination. We

are training more boxers so we can

become the world's best. Not so

impossible since Pinoys are

naturally born fighters. The

drunkards and street toughies are fearless and notorious; they don't c a r e m u c h a b o u t t h e

consequences of their actions.

Why not commission them to

compete abroad? So instead of

Adding the crime rates, they can

be productive, giving glory to the

country.

The “C' Story

Last quarter, I was disqualified from a red eagle sticker because I got 'C' in PE (good thing I

was exemplary in conduct). My parents learned

that I was not good at basketball, and that had

caused demerits in my class standing. I never

realized that dribbling and shooting are that

important to excel. I presume our politicians and

great leaders can dribble and shoot effectively. So

for those who are aspiring for eagle, “Keep your head on the game.”
