9th Century VikingVisits
Social Studies Class
Mrs. McMichael’s sixth grade social studies classroom at AMS was taken over by a 9th Century Viking named Ottar (Matt Winzer). Along with Ottar was his daughter (Bridgett Winzer) and helper Carl (Brenden Winzer). The presentation included history of the Viking life during the Middle Ages and display of battle armor. Some students braved trying on the heavy 40-pound chain maille shirt. Mrs. Kristen Crank’s students also joined in the experience.
Special thanks to Matt, Bridgett, and Brenden Winzer for sharing their time, knowledge, and artifacts with our students. Experiences like this are invaluable to the learning process.
