House Rules

1. At the beginning of the evening, the Master of Ceremonies will announce the correct time. Please set your watches accordingly.

2. Five, three and one-minute warnings will be given prior to the Posted Auction closing.

3. Minimum raise is $10. Any bid raised less than $10 is invalid. This excludes Winspire packages which require a $100 minimum raise.

4. Restrictions apply. A claiming package, including expirations and restrictions is available for review at the bid table. Items within one package may have different expiration dates and restrictions. Please note restrictions and bid accordingly.

5. Auction items cannot be exchanged for cash or merchandise. Trips are subject to availability and reservations with private owners and businesses. Please make arrangements as early as possible for best availabilities. Expiration dates are final.

6. A bid constitutes an agreement to purchase; a winning bid is a binding obligation to purchase. All items purchased become the property of the successful bidder once that bidder is acknowledged by the auctioneer.

7. Full payment is required at the Auction as soon as winning bids are posted. Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted.

8. A paid receipt must be presented at the auction tables to claim an item. All purchases are to be removed at Auction’s closing. Large items must be picked up by Wednesday, March 23. The Museum will be closed on Monday, March 21.

9. No substitutions are allowed on vacation packages and vacation packages are non-transferable. Successful bidder is responsible for all travel arrangements not included in vacation packages. No exchanges or refunds will be allowed.

10. The Museum of the Southwest neither warrants nor represents, and in no event shall be responsible for, the correctness of the descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement made in the auction catalog or orally at the Auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty, representation or assumption of liability.

11. The values listed are estimates made by the donor of fair market value. Items have not been appraised.

12. Each successful bidder assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction items obtained at the Auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising there from the Museum of the Southwest, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer, the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors and/or volunteers connected with the Auction.

13. Items or services expire March 31, 2017 unless otherwise specified.

14. The Museum of the Southwest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization as designated by the federal government. The auction receipt certifies that you have received nothing in exchange for this contribution. If the price you pay for the auction item exceeds the fair market value of the piece as stated in the auction catalog, the excess portion of the price may be deducted as a charitable contribution. Please consult with your tax advisor or preparer for details.

Auction Rules

Posted Auction / HandBid

• Bidding begins at 7 p.m. and continues uninterrupted until 10:30 p.m.

• You may bid directly from the Handbid app on your smartphone once you have downloaded the app and checked into the the event.

• You may also consult an Auction Concierge and they can bid for you using your bid paddle number on BidPads available onsite.

• Maximum bids may be set directly from your smartphone or an Auction Concierge can help you set that up so you may enjoy the rest of the evening. This does not mean that you will pay your Maximum bid. The app will automatically raise the your bid by the minimum raise amount each time you are outbid.

• Please be patient as final bids are posted and invoices processed.

Live Auction

• The Live Auction begins at 9 p.m. in the Durham Children’s Museum.

• Please use the auction paddles provided to indicate your willingness to bid on an item.

• Items will be auctioned from the block to the highest bidder.

• Winning bids will be added to the bidders invoice in Handbid and processed when the Posted Auction closes.
