How did you attract/address your

audience?Q5

Page 2: Attracting audience q5

To attract a wider audience on my front page I quoted my model saying “music saved my life” this is a strong line as it will leave people wondering why, how and what does it really mean. This will cause people to buy the magazine to find out the answers to their own questions. Another way I attracted people to buy this edition of my magazine is the writing in the yellow boxes, in one I state the First announcement to Leeds & Reading festival has been announced, this will leave people wondering who it is and therefore they will have to buy this magazine to find out. This will also attract people who already know the line-up because the magazine will give more information then just finding out online. Each yellow box on the front cover leaves the reader thinking and asking themselves questions that they will need to buy the magazine to find out the answers too. This means that more people will be willing and wanting to buy the magazine to find out the answers.

During my double page spread I addressed the audience by carrying out a Q&A in which my consistent audience could get involved with the magazine by sending in questions on our online website. This would have been advertised in the previous edition of our magazine thus making people who saw this in the previous edition to either participate or get involved. The model I chose is coming from a working background, this may make the reader feel like he is one of them, they can aspire to be like him and replicate his success.

This is one way I involved my audience, I emailed people who I believed would be interested in my magazine asking them what they believed would be the best title for my magazine and even what font style they would prefer. This would make my audience feel involved in the production of my magazine and feel like they played a part in the design of it. I gave the options of numerous titles and fonts which I created myself, this is so that whatever the audience decide to choose as a majority, it is still my work as I came up with these names and presented them. I chose titles such as ‘yours’ and ‘connected’ as it ties in with the audiences involvement with my magazine, making them feel like they have just as much as involvement with it as me the producer.
