How did you attract/address your audience?

Deconstructing my Magazine

Page 3: Attracting an audience

My Front CoverI used a handwritten font to appeal to my target audience. It makes the magazine look more friendly.

I used personal pronouns. This makes the audience feel that you are talking directly to them and I put this in my title to attract the reader and create a personal feel.

I used the word ‘secret’ to make the reader feel as if there talking to a friend. Also, if someone hasn’t seen the magazine before it gives a positive and friendly first impression.

I used another personal pronoun, this makes the reader feel as if there problems can be solved and therefore, more positive as a whole.

I used a bright eye catching colour scheme to attract my target audience. I chose pink, purple and light blue. These colours are frequently associated with femininity. By using these colours it makes my target audience very clear, and the target audience would want to look at the magazine to see if there are any ‘girly’ articles. For example about fashion.

A direct mode of address can attract a reader as it makes the magazine look friendly This is reenforced by the models facial expression, as she looks very happy

I added a competition about a popular band to attract the reader. Firstly people will notice the artists name and them see that there is a competition. Also, that there are multiple chances of winning.

My Contents PageI added a guide to attract my reader. Sometimes when pages are over complicated and cluttered they can put the target audience off buying the magazine.

I added servral competitions to my magazine. This makes the reader feel they have greater chance of winning and encourages them to buy the magazine.

I added some more personal pronouns to attract my audience and make the magazine appear friendly.

I added additional photos of other talent so people can look at the contents and straight away see whats inside. Also the direct mode of address and smile makes the magazine look friendly and appealing.

I used colloquial language that will appeal to my target audience as they are familiar with this sort of language.

I used a hand written font to make the text feel more personal.

My Double Page Spread I used a hand written font to create a personal feel. Also, I used ‘OMG!’ to appeal to my target audience. This language is modern and familiar with my target audience.

I used a hand written font to make the reader feel as if they were talking to the talent.

I added a bright splash with an appealing sentence. This is a store that a lot of teenagers are familiar with in.

I used the same colour scheme through out as I think these colours will be attractive to my target audience.

Over all...

I think that the main things that attract my audience are:• Personal pronouns• A ‘girly’ colour scheme• A direct mode of address• Competitions
