The price of was slashed by40-42 paise per litre in Delhi,Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennaitoday.

Moreover, the oil marketingcompanies also cut the diesel

prices by 30-32 paise per litre.This is the eleventh day in a rowwhen fuel prices have beenslashed. The petrol price in Delhion Saturday is Rs 77.02 per litre,in Mumbai Rs 84.84 per litre, inKolkata Rs 79.68 per litre and inChennai it is Rs 79.95 per litre.

The diesel price in metrocities were Rs 68.28 per litre inDelhi, Rs 70.83 per litre inKolkata, Rs 72.7 in Mumbai andRs 72.08 per litre in Chennai.(UNI)

19 cops killed in Talibanattack at Afghanistan

KUNDUZ (Afghanistan),June 9:

At least 19 Afghan policeofficers were killed today in apre-dawn raid by the Taliban ona base in the northern provinceof Kunduz, officials said, hoursbefore the militants announcedan unprecedented ceasefire start-ing next week.

The Taliban claimed respon-

sibility for the attack, whichcame a day after the insurgentsstormed a military base in thewestern province of Herat,killing 17 Afghan soldiers.

Kunduz provincial Governorspokesman Nehmatullah Taimurisaid five members of the localpolice force were also woundedin today's attack on a police basein Qal-e-Zal district.

Provincial police spokesmanEnhamuddin Rahmani con-firmed the death toll and saideight Taliban fighters were alsokilled.

Both attacks came hoursbefore the Taliban announced aceasefire with Afghan securityforces for the first three days ofEid, the holiday that capsRamadan and which is due tobegin at the end of next week.

That unexpected move cametwo days after the AfghanGovernment's own surpriseannouncement of an apparentlyunilateral week-long halt tooperations against theTaliban.(PTI)

Drug peddlerarrested with heroin

KATHUA, June 9: Hatli policearrested a drug peddler and recov-ered 40 grams heroin from his pos-session.

As per police sources, duringchecking, a team from Police PostHatli led by Verinder interceptedEtios car bearing registration num-ber JK02BE-3901 at railway roadGovindsar.

During checking, police recov-ered 40 grams heroin from the pos-session of the driver, who has beenidentified as Jasbir Singh, son ofKalyan Singh of Nanak nagarJammu.

A case under FIR Number203/18 under Section 8/21/22NDPS Act has been registered atKathua Police Station and investi-gation started.

JAMMU, June 9: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly killedby her husband over some fam-ily dispute in Miran Sahib areaof city outskirts.“The couple had a fight over

some trivial issue this afternoonfollowing which the husband,Rashpal Singh alias Pappu, losthis temper and hit his wifenamely Sudesh Kumari aliasPoli on her head with a log”,said SHO, police station MiranSahib, Inspector Ajit Singh.

He said Sudesh Kumari suf-fered critical head injuries anddied on the spot. On gettinginformation, police reached thespot and shifted the body to SubDistrict Hospital, RS Pura,where after getting conductedpostmortem, the body washanded over to its legal heirs forlast rites.

The deceased’s husband hasbeen arrested and a case FIR No85 under Section 302 registeredagainst him, the police officersaid, adding further investiga-tion into the case is underway.

Missing youth'sbody recovered

JAMMU, June 9: The deadbody of an 18-year old youth,who went missing yesterday,was recovered this eveningunder mysterious circumstancesfrom his own car in Bathindiarea of city outskirts.

"The deceased youth hasbeen identified as Mohd AsifMalik (18) son of Shamsdin,resident of Bagga, tehsilmahore, district Reasi. He waspresently residing in Nowabadarea of Bathindi", a police offi-cial said.

He said according to thefamily members, Asif had leftthe house yesterday withouttelling them anything and whenhe did not return back eventoday morning, they told thematter to Bathindi police whichlaunched a search operation.

"During the search, the bodyof Asif with some blood spotson his face was recovered fromback seat of his own car, whichwas parked at some distancefrom his residence", the policeofficial said, adding, the bodyof the youth was shifted to mor-tuary room of GovernmentMedical College and Hospital,Jammu for postmortem while acase in this connection was reg-istered at concerned police sta-tion and investigations started.

SRINAGAR, June 9: Continuing its drive against contrabandcultivation, Anantnag police today along with team of ExecutiveMagistrate Larnoo and Excise Department, destroyed poppy culti-vation spread on about 45 kanals of land in different villagesfalling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Larnoo.

A police spokesman said that on the directions of SSPAnantnag, Altaf Ahmad Khan, a joint team of Police, ExecutiveMagistrate Larnoo and Excise Department assisted by SHO PoliceStation Larnoo under the supervision of SDPO Kokernag launcheda drive against the illegal cultivation of poppy.

He said during the drive, poppy spread on 40-45 kanals of landwas destroyed by the joint team in Larnoo, Kherpeth and Drawaivillages falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Larnoo. Thedrive was highly appreciated by general public of the area.

A police spokesman saidthat a police party of PolicePost, Chanapora led by in-charge Police Post, Syed Iqballaid a naka at Mandir Post.During naka checking two per-sons namely Umar Gul Bhat, aresident of Natipora andShanawaz Ahmad Mir, a resi-dent of Azad Basti Natiporawere apprehended.

He said on search, 40 bottlesof codeine phosphate wererecovered from their possessionand in this regard, a case FIRNumber 87/2018 under Section8/21 NDPS Act stands regis-tered in Police Station Sadderand investigation was taken up.

An Army spokesman saidthat the Army troops in thevicinity swiftly rushed to thespot with their Medical teamand provided immediate firstaid to the lady.

He said the Army personnelthen evacuated her to SKIMSHospital, Bemina for furthertreatment. "This gesture wasappreciated by the locals whocommended the timely assis-tance by the Army," he said.

Unidentified male body found

JAMMU, June 9: The deadbody of an unidentified man of ageabout 35 years was recoveredtoday from an abandoned house inPaloura area of city outskirts.

"Today afternoon, someonecalled Janipur police on phone andinformed that decomposed deadbody of an unidentified man islying in an abandoned housewhich has no windows and doors,near Silk factory at Vivek Vihar,Paloura" a police official said.

He said a police team wasimmediately sent to the spot whichshifted the body to mortuary roomof Government Medical Collegeand Hospital, Jammu for identifi-cation/postmortem. "The bodyappears to be of 4-5 days old", thepolice official said.
