Note:

This ballot does not address or modify any of the references to ASME B&PV Code Section VIIIin API Spec 6A.

Justification:

The use of the obsolete edition of ASME Section V for NDE creates a problem for raw materialsuppliers and equipment manufacturers that, for the sake of compliance with the ASME B&PVC,are working to the current edition of ASME Section V.

Additionally, the use of the obsolete edition of ASME Section IX for welding creates a problemfor weld facilities & equipment manufacturers that, for the sake of compliance with the ASMEB&PVC, qualify new weld procedures in accordance with the current edition of ASME SectionIX.

In many cases, the facilities performing NDE and welding on API 6A equipment are alsoworking to other national and international standards that are up to date and require compliancewith the latest editions of ASME Section V and Section IX.
