1) FIRST ASSIGNMENT “INTERACTIVE PARAMETRIC FACADE” [2.5 hour practical
session]
Design task:
o Site: FREE
o Limitations: 10m/10m/5m max
o Function: FREE + Responsive [Facade changes when environment
changes]
o Material – N/A
- Design task development : sketching, developing programming logic [10
min]
- Describe your design idea using 2-3 keywords for each category.
o Geometry [Keywords example: circles, triangulation, spiral]
o Abstract Metaphors [Keywords example: smooth, airy, cloud etc.]
- Participants have to accomplish and submit the first assignment [online
submission – emailing / uploading to blog]. The first assignment should be
submitted before 9:00 am on the next day
- After each submission participants will be asked to answer a short
questionnaire

Modelling logic:
- Set Curves / Loft Curves / Divide Surface /
- Flatten List of Points/ Cull Pattern (True/False/False/True/False)/ Generate
Polygons Panels:(Polygons (2 sizes) / Rotate / Planar Surface)
- Extrude Panels / Custom Preview
Grasshopper definition _ Example_ task 1 “INTERACTIVE PARAMETRIC FACADE”
Describe design idea using 2-3 keywords:
- Geometry: Divide Surface, Points, Polygons
- Abstract Metaphors: Perforated, Growing, Honeycomb Cells

responsive to human behaviour) [2.5 hour practical session]
Design task:
o Site: FREE
o Limitations: RESPONSIVE STRUCTURE (Structure responsive to human
behaviour / movement / amount of people, etc…)
o Function: URBAN PAVILION
o Material – N/A
- Design task development - sketching [10 min]
- Describe your design idea using 2-3 keywords for each category.
o Geometry [Keywords example: circles, triangulation, spiral]
o Abstract Metaphors [Keywords example: smooth, airy, cloud etc.]
- Participants have to accomplish and submit the first assignment [online
submission + online questionnaire] Note that the second assignment
should be submitted before 10:00 pm on the same day.
