Denotation – Old pale lady in a knitted blouse with hardly no hair on the front lawn.

Connotation – Elderly woman looking worried, scared, possibly a sick patient reaching out for help.

Denotation – Quotes on a rusty wall With a man before it.

Connotation – Troubled person. Message is “Stop me before I kill someone” a loud call for help possibly a prisoner a deranged crazy person

Gun – Weapon usually represents danger or crime.

Hospital Instruments – A health unit is widely shown. Used on patients.

Book and Picture – this can mean documentation of somebody's identity linking back to the police and the frail lady

Word “Run” stands out from others in the book. A sign of fear. Written notes usually represent mystery.

Close Up – I love close ups because they always show detail in face. This is a screen print of a man who is disfigured and you can clearly see it by this shot

I wish to use this filming technique in my opening sequence because I like to portray emotion and feeling. So audience can clearly understand how a character is feeling and what they look like

In our opening sequence we will use this shot to show pain or misery.

In this scene they play non diagetic sounds to show emotion (Teddy’s Love for woman in his dream)

The music is very subtle, soft low key music. This makes audience feel emotion towards scene.

-Shutter Island might appeal to older teens, if they can handle the strong stuff. Younger kids are strongly warned away.

In this scene instead of a Non Diagetic sounds (edited sounds) being played Diagectic Sounds are being played instead.

In this scene the moment (Georgie) is about to kill Paul. Diagectic sound is being played from the stereo Paul switched on right before the scene starts. This is to build suspense

and tension of the gun setting off. Which did not happen.
