1st focus student was in process of changing over to special ed
2nd focus student tested too high on MAP test (a formal assessment)
Both were disqualified New students were found last minute by my
CT
Used MAP scores as formal assessment Used class work and observations as informal
assessment Found students were struggling most with
word problems
Focus of lesson was problem solving strategies
Went over strategies students already used Described new strategies Modeled them Practiced them and gradually had students
take over Students created own word problems and
solved using practiced strategies
Students had a great time! If possible would incorporate these strategies
daily Asked CT about using them He said it was his goal but not possible now
due to class size
