Lava Tunnels• When lava flows the outer

part of the stream gets cold and hardens, but the liquid magma within continues flowing. When it is empty tubes are left behind. This is what happened in Santa Cruz Island several times, leaving an island full of lava tunnels. The most frequently visited is the "Tunnel of Endless Love", it is named this because of the heart shaped hole in the roof of it.

Visit The Wall of Tears • Between 1946 and 1959

Isabela was a penal colony, where prisoners were forced to build a wall with huge blocks of lava as punishment. Due to the harsh conditions in which the prisoners lived and worked, this site is known as the Wall of Tears. A set of stairs provides an amazing view of the wall and the surrounding landscape.

• Prepare yourself for one of the best days of your trip! After navigation aboard a typical fisherman boat for an hour and a half from Puerto Villamil, you will reach Cape Rosa or Finado Bay on the western side of the island.
